Description from owner

Description

The Garden Room, Mellory is a small (but perfectly formed) ground floor flat, one of six within Mellory a converted stables, barn and coachhouse. There is a kitchen/living area, bedroom, shower room and dining area in the conservatory. It has all modern comforts including luxurious underfloor heating and its own private garden with seating, barbecue and chimnea allowing you to enjoy the cooler evenings, visitors are permitted to wander around the acre of communal gardens too.

The flat is very accessible for the less able though there are two steps down to the door and a step up into the shower room. Allocated parking is just a few meters from the flat.

Old Cleeve is a pretty Somerset village that has it's own licensed club called The Lysaght Club, it is staffed by the villagers, open most weekends and welcomes holiday makers and visitors. There are two pubs just a mile away easily walkable (though West Somerset is known for its hills) and shopping in Williton or Watchet

The area has lots to see and do being close to Minehead, Watchet, Exmoor and the Quantock hills making it an ideal base for walkers, anglers, steam railway enthusiasts or just a little bolt hole to snuggle into during those winter days. There are a host of other attractions locally such as cider farms, museums and Dunster Castle is just a couple of miles away with villages such as Porlock just a few miles more.

A well behaved quiet dog is allowed but guests are asked not to allow them in the bedroom or on furniture. Smoking is allowed outside the property only.

Location description from owner

The England region

Old Cleeve is a small pretty village near Minehead. West Somerset is probably best known for Exmoor a National Park famed for its wild ponies, literary links and wild landscape. With the highest sea cliffs in England, Exmoor offers spectacular views as its woodlands swoop down to the sea.

Across the county there are 100 sites of special scientific interest in fact the nearby Quantock Hills was the first area in England to be designated with that title. The area is a walkers paradise with miles of coastal paths.

For steam railway enthusiasts there is the West Somerset Steam Railway which passes nearby and you can hear it chugging along Washford station is just a mile away. Anglers can fish at Watchet and Blue Anchor.

Minehead

The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful with St Andrew's church at its heart The Garden Room is one of six flats and the other permanent residents of Mellory are friendly and always have time to point you in the right direction.

The Lysaght club is something of an enigma in that it was gifted to the villagers in the 1920s and has been managed and run by villagers ever since. It usually opens over the weekend and has various activities on offer - holiday makers are welcome to visit. Check out its website for more information.
