The England region

The hills & dales of the Peak District draw visitors back year after year to see the wonderful scenery in all its shades colours and moods. The limestone cliffs and peaceful rivers of the white peak & the grit-stone edges and heather covered moors of the dark peak will make a stunning back drop to your holiday. From the friendly people in old unchainging villages where wells dressing still takes place, to the medieval Hall at Haddon & grand stately house at Chatsworth with priceless treasures. You can visit an underground world of show caves at Castleton & Buxton with stalagmites & stalagtites, ride back in time on an old tram at Crich or take a cable car to the hights of Abraham at Matlock. Visit market towns & Victorian spa towns. There is rock climbing, abseiling & miles of car free cycle track. We have trails & paths that are a walkers & Hikers paradise in an abundance of flora & fauna.

Millers Dale

The trout filled river Wye meanders through the dales between the spa town of Buxton & the old market town of Bakewell famous for it's puddings. At Buxton you can follow in the footsteps of Victorian visitors who would take the waters among the eligant architecture of the crescent then stroll in extensive gardens & take a tea dance in the magnificent glass domed ballroom or visit the beautiful old theatre. Bakewell still has an outdoor market every Monday & a host of interesting little shops just off the river where a multitude of ducks await feeding. The river travels 12 miles between the 2 towns through 5 of the most picturesque dales in the country & all can be walked using paths with foot bridges & stepping stones, or cycled using the Monsal Trail. Half way along the trail is a very special place, nestling beside the river is the tiny hamlet of Millers Dale, the location of our cottages. Set in hudreds of acres of nature reserves & conservation land much of the are is designated as a site of speacial scientific interest.

“Our Holiday Haven”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2014

We have stayed at least 14 times and we have enjoyed each one (so has our dog) The cottage is set in lovely gardens where you can sit and watch the birds come to the feeders including, members of the tit family, chaffinches, nuthatches, and the great spotted woodpecker. We start to unwind the moment we arrive, you are always made to feel welcome and if you need anything nothing is too much trouble for Vicky, Pam and Vic. It is a good base for exploring the beautiful Peak District and there are lots of nice pubs where you can have a nice meal and most of them you can take you dog inside with you (great if its raining). We're looking forward to our next visit.
