Description

The Lodge itself is large and extremely well equipped. It caters for 6. There are three bedrooms comprising one main double room and two twins and one en-suite shower room to the double and one family bathroom with bath and shower. The Lodge is extremely light and has wood ceilings throughout. The kitchen caters for cooks and non-cooks alike. It's fully equipped but also has a dishwasher, slow cooker, and microwave for lazy eating. Two ovens and a gas hob are also there for the chefs. There is a separate laundry area with washer dryer. Storage is not an issue with this Lodge as each room has a wardrobe and chest of drawers.

This Lodge is a home and as such we want you to treat it as such. There are TV's with facilities to play DVDs, CD player with iPod docking and we provide many board games and books and magazines. It doesn't feel like a holiday home and stands out from the rest, as there are many pieces of art and other artifacts around. The Lodge is on a prime site, sheltered and not overlooked. The twin sets of patio doors lead out to the raised deck area where a table and chairs are provided. Good quality bed linen is supplied by the owner and should towels be needed they can be provided at extra cost.

Whitsand Bay is part of the Rame Peninsular and is located at the beginning of the footstep from Devon into Cornwall. It pretty much remains unknown to the hordes of tourists who flock to Cornwall every year for their holiday break and boasts some of the most spectacular sandy beaches around our coastline.

It is a popular surf spot and Whitsand Bay Golf Club is nearby. Carp Lakes, Foraging, Coasteering, Horse Riding, Walking with Alpacas,

Landscape Painting, Sea Fishing, Deep sea diving are all available within easy reach.

The Southwest Coastal Path starts at Cremyll and winds its way through the 800-acre Mount Edgcumbe Park, which is probably one of the most beautiful estates in England today.

Getting around

Even though Whitsand Bay is in Cornwall, it is only 7 miles from Plymouth city centre, with a direct bus service that stops outside the Fort. The bus also goes to Kingsand/Cawsand and Cremyll where you can catch the ferry to Plymouth. Therefore, it is centrally located which allows you to venture further and deeper into Cornwall or pop back into Devon to explore the coastline and nearby towns and villages therein.

Interaction with guest

There is a reception office on the site which is available depending on the season up to 7 days a week. I am available on the phone at all times during your stay to handle any queries or concerns. On the complex, there is a bar and restaurant which is open at weekends all year and during the week as well at prime times. The beaches cafe on site is open every day for breakfast and lunch, has free wifi and sells basic essentials, including wine and beers!

House rules

Check-in is after 3 pm and guests must vacate by 11 am on the day of departure so that the lodge can be prepared for the next guests. If you are going to arrive late please let us know so that we can make the necessary arrangements with the keys for you.
The lodge is our home which we love and we expect our guests to treat it as they would they would their own.

“A stormy but cosy stay with gorgeous views”

We booked a weekend break to visit family who live nearby, and although the weather was stormy the lodge had everything we needed. It was cosy, warm (once we found how to turn the electric on) and the perfect location for us with stunning views. Nick emailed us with details required and we had no issues at all during our stay. Our children watched a dvd whilst we stayed which we found at the lodge, along with plenty of books for all ages. Although we didn’t explore the area due to the weather we did use the pool which was warm and big enough for all to enjoy. If using the pool its good to know they have a shared changing room (men & women) if you can and it’s not busy use the shower cubical to change for privacy. The beds are comfy and the lodge is warm, what more could you want in the autumn months. Thank you for having us.

“Fabulous, well-equipped accommodation with lovely views.”

Accommodation was clean, warm and well-equipped with lots of additional extras. Really enjoyed the walks along Whitsand Bay Beach and having breakfast in the Cliff Top Café. Local area is great with easy access to lots of Cornwall attractions and gorgeous fishing towns. Pool and games area could definitely do with some updating and love but was enjoyed by my children none the less. Staff at site where lovely, very friendly and helpful. Food in 'The Vault' was really good. Hoping to return again!

“Perfect location, perfect lodge, perfect break”

Booked as a family holiday for my wife, myself and our 15month old. Wanted a comfortable, spacious, well kitted out place to call home for our short break - Lodge 28 ticked all these boxes! Truly a home from home. Tastefully furnished, with all necessary things you want and need from a self catering holiday option. Kitchen very well stocked. Only negative experienced, that was very quickly resolved, centred around the onsite swimming pool which, on first entrance, we were told was not made free to guests at Lodge 28 (being a privately owned and rented lodge - others on site presumably managed and let by the onsite team). When this was raised with the owner, free pool passes were issued within hours and my family and I were able to make use of the facilities free of charge for the duration of our stay. Note - this was the only potential negative worth commenting on, and in reality it was a big positive for the owner who responded to my issue quickly, and with the best outcome. 10 / 10 for the accomodation, owners responsiveness and everything else - views, location, value for money etc etc etc. Basically, stop reading this review, and just book Lodge 28!!!

“A modern, well equiped lodge with lovely views of Plymouth ,surrounding countryside and the sea”

The Lodge was decorated and furnished to a high standard; we were particularly impressed with the kitchen, living area and bathrooms. Our party consisted of 4 adults and 2 teenagers and there was plenty of room for everyone. Whitsands beach is beautiful and quiet but not easy to get to due to the steep cliff walk, we new what to expect but I wouldn't want to do it with a pushchair or anyone with mobility difficulties. Also, the tides can be very dangerous so you should only go in the sea when the lifeguards are there. There are other beaches nearby (although not in walking distance) and we enjoyed the rock pools and kayaking at Cawsands and lovely walks around Cremyl. Looe is also quite nearby and has a sandy beach as well as the usual seaside shops. Shopping nearby is a little limited and you really need a car to get around so be prepared to navigate some very narrow lanes. The only thing I was less impressed with were the facilities of the rest of the site but we hadn't planned to use this very much so it didn't spoil our holiday. The staff in the little shop were really friendly and helpful but the swimming pool and pub were quite dated feeling and I wasn't sure what refurbishments had been done (although the pool was very warm). The website said there was a mini gym but this was a bit of an exaggeration as it was just a room with some very old equipment in it, not really a problem because if you go to whitsands you won't need a gym anyway but it was a bit misleading and I really don't know why they bother to mention it. All in all we had a fabulous holiday mixing days at the beach with relaxing evenings in the lodge. The kitchen was very well equipped so self catering was easy and the lodge feels like a home. (We did have a problem getting the key on arrival but this was made up for by the lovely lady who sorted it out for us)

“Truly Stunning! Literally Luxurious....five star!”

We were lucky enough to find a week in August at the last minute in this gorgeous lodge. We stayed there with our three boys of 13, 10 and 9 and they loved it! It was super clean, super modern and very stylish.....cosy but cool with a gorgeous veranda and awesome views! Even a dishwasher, washing machine and a little shop on site, plenty of parking, a gorgeous cliff top cafe opposite the park with views to die for and a pretty mean bacon sarnie with a yummy latte and as for the bay, wow, its as beautiful as The Gold Coast.....we will be back, couldn't top it!

“Home from Home with exceptional views”

We’ve just come back from 5 days staying at Lodge 28 in Whitsand Bay Holiday Park on the Cornish/Devon border and we’re already talking about our next visit! The lodge was a perfect place for us to get away and relax. Having 2 small young children we have been disappointed with previous standards of accommodation that we have stayed in, so when we find somewhere like the lodge we always make sure that we go back. The lodge was well equipped, exceptionally clean, easy to get to, very close to lots of places of interest and it boasts the most amazing views! We visited the Aquarium in nearby Plymouth ( perfect for a rainy day), walked around Mount Edgecombe and took a walk from Kingsand to Cawsand. The Holiday Park itself had a great pool which the kids loved and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Our only regret was that we didn’t actually make it down to the beach on this visit due to the poor weather, so it’s something to look forward to on our return visit. Lodge 28, a home from home.

How do damage deposits work?
