Location description from owner

The Turkish Aegean Coast region

The Bodrum peninsula is a wonderful place to visit for both long and short stays. Whether you enjoy walking, nature, swimming, bird watching, sunbathing, dining out or golf, everyone will find something they love about this region. For example, golfers can now enjoy a round of golf at the newly open Vita Park Golf Resort at Tuzla alongside the 9-hole course just outside of Bodrum Town. The historic and cosmopolitan harbour town of Bodrum, with its imposing Crusader era castle and bustling port are great places to explore for a day or longer. There are also many shops, bars and restaurants to wine and dine at and the huge indoor market to haggle in. Milas, Bodrum Town and Turgutreis all have the most amazing market days. Moving further afield, chilled out water front restaurants can be found in little tucked away harbours dotted around the peninsula where you can choose freshly caught seafood and relax over a selection of meze and a bottle of wine or a cold glass of beer. Perhaps hire a gullet and crew for a day and enjoy a swim in secluded clear water coves or perhaps a day at the Aqua Park or Dolphin Park. Whatever your choice, getting around the peninsula is a breeze thanks to the relatively good roads and the superb bus (dolmus) links from Bodrum Town.

Milas

Bodrum Town: The primary centre for tourism, Bodrum Town is jam packed with shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, banks and practically everything else you could want. The town is set around an impressive harbour and overlooked by a 12th century Crusader Castle. Here you can take the ferry to Kos and to Rhodes if you want. Bodrum Town has several sandy bays with lots of waterside cafe's and bars.

Beaches: The Bodrum peninsula has a predominantly rugged coastline but you can find many small and not so small sandy beaches wherever you go. Irrespective of the location of your accommodation there are a number of small public beaches within 5 to 10 mins and many more within an hours drive. A good example, and a popular beach for families is Camel Beach, aptly named because of the Camels that can be found on the long sandy shoreline there.

Transportation: The locals preferred method of travel is on the Dolmus (bus). Trips generally cost just a few Turkish Lira with the custom being to pass the money to the driver via various other passengers. The main hub for these buses is located in Bodrum Town and from here, buses leave from early to late to every other part of the peninsula fanning out like the spokes on a cart wheel. They are a fabulous way to get around if you have time on your hands.

Airport: Bodrum Milas Airport (BJV) is the closest airport. Transfers can be arranged at extra charge at any time of day or night. From April to October there are direct flights available from most UK airports. In the winter months flights are still available through Istanbul or to Izmir about 2 1/2 hours away. Again transfers can be arranged. Hire cars, taxis and regular local buses are available onsite for you to explore the area and visit the markets and beaches of the Bodrum Peninsula.

Play Golf: Vita Park Golf Resort. World class championship complex with club house, restaurant, bar, shop and driving range. The par-71 18 hole courses is pay and play and is just 3 miles away.

Weather: The weather is generally fantastic from May through October with very little rain, particularly in June, July and August. If you like the sun without the heat, the perfect time to visit is late May / June and September / October.
