Description

A quaint fisherman's cottage in the heart of this lovely old fishing village in Cornwall. Central but private with a large roof terrace with spectacular views over the village - the terrace has sun all day and is not overlooked. BBQ is provided - you just need to catch the fish! Conveniently located for touring Cornwall, but leave the car home and relax in the evenings. Excellent local walks inland and on the southwest coastal path. Five minutes drive to Lost Gardens of Heligan and 20 minutes to the Eden Project. Five minutes to nearest beach, many others within easy driving distance. There are some spectacular walks nearby - you can walk to Gorran Haven and also to the Lost Gardens of Heligan. A cycle trail at Pentewan - just a mile away - is a popular pursuit.

There are some delightful shops, pubs and restaurants, all within walking distance, in Mevagissey, on the harbour and in the streets behind. Crabbing on the inner harbour and fishing on the outer harbour wall

The England region

Cornwall is a lovely part of England surrounded by beaches - you are never far away from a sandy beach with stunning cliffs as backdrops. It has the highest sunshine hours in the UK, and lots of wonderful sub tropical gardens and National Trust properties to explore.

West Country

Mevagissey is an ancient Cornish fishing village, with a bustling harbour which is still working today. There are a few very old pubs, full of the smuggling legacy of the area, as well as some wonderful restaurants and little shops full of treasures. The Lost Gardens of Heligan is 5 minutes away, The Eden Project is 20 minutes away, the market town of St Austell is 10 minutes drive and the larger city of Truro is 25 minutes away. There are lots of sandy beaches within 20 minutes drive of St Austell - the wilder north coast of Cornwall famed for its surfing is within 30 minutes drive.

“Great Location”

Reviewed 24 Nov 2015

Lantern cottage is very cosy, easy to find and the location was very convenient for beautiful Mevagissey and it's cracking pubs!

“Exactly what we were looking for”

Reviewed 6 Aug 2014

Wonderful surprise on arrival - a full table of , tea, scones and jam - no sooner had wished I had picked up clotted cream at the butchers on the way I discovered some in the fridge with 2 pints of milk... Perfect! The Cottage is a good size, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable. The decking ensures you can catch some sunshine even if you are in need of a lazy day! The steps up may be a bit tricky for some but even with my fear of heights it was manageable. The location is perfect, just minutes from parking and the bus stop, restaurants and pubs and of course the harbour side. Cannot wait to return again!

Thank you for such a lovely review. We hope to see you back in Cornwall very soon.
