Description from owner

Description

Topheavy cottage is a charming 2 bedroom stone cottage in a great location within the heart of Mevagissey - at harbour level so easily accessible for all the shops, pubs and restaurants.

The ground floor of the property has twice been renovated after flooding and more recently tanked with an up to date flood defence to help prevent further problems.

Cosy lounge with stone floor with stairs to first floor.

Open dining / kitchen with all mod cons.

First floor there are 2 bedrooms (double and twin - narrow older style singles) and a bathroom. There is a balcony off the main bedroom with chairs to relax in the evening.

Towels are not provided.

Due to the location of the property there is no parking allocated to the house but there are many places to park (one immediately behind the house) and this is extra unfortunately, parking fees (at the time of writing) are £45 per week for this cottage (special rate).

“Good location with good facilities”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2016

Wanted a place to leave the car in the evenings as I was the only driver wanted to have a few drinks in the evenings so this was perfect and that's why I chose the cottage. There is no garden and straight out onto the road however I was aware of this on booking. It is a cottage so typically dark in the lounge. The kitchen is large with everything you need. We cooked on several evenings and with a large kitchen table sat round and played games. The only comments I would make is the cleanliness wasn't too great in the bedrooms. I found a dirty men's sock behind the chair in the main bedroom. Quite dusty and the bedding needed updating as the sheets were thin and bobbly. No pillow protector Is and their was a stale smell. I did notice before I booked that someone left a comment about the cleaning and they received a ticking off. I understand that the owner's wife is responsible for cleaning so really should take any comments for improvements on board. We've all seen 4 in a bed! Nowhere to put rubbish bags before collection day. There was an issue with the key code as the one we were given was incorrect but luckily the owner appeared within a minute! All in all we had a good holiday and the location was good. Mevagissey is a quaint little harbour with good restaurants. Had a great night out in the Ship Inn with Live music. I would recommend if the suggestions were taken on board.

Sorry you were unhappy with the cleanliness. We were let down more than once by the cleaner who was replaced after your stay. The bedding was also renewed as the cleaner had mixed up lots of linen from other properties. For info, it wasn't done by the owners wife and it was the caretaker who you met that day checking on properties. It is difficult to leave rubbish outside due to seagulls and bins keep disappearing, we are looking into alternatives. It does help when people respect the properties too! 4 in a bed!! We are not trying to win a competition, just offering our property for you to enjoy the area. The cleaner has since been replaced and is back to a good standard.

“The cottage was absolutely lovely and the location was perfect!”

We had a wonderful holiday in Mevagissy. Top Heavy Cottage was just lovely and really made our stay special. It was very well appointed and had everything we needed. We have visited Cornwall on numerous occasions but this cottage has been the best we have stayed in and we will definitely be booking again next year.
