Julia:

“We have just returned from a fantastic holiday with our two kids at the authentic VillaOlivio in Mesudiye Datca. It was a perfect base for discovering this so far unspoilt part of Turkey, as well as being really attractive, clean and comfortable - and providing everything we needed, including an amazing swimming pool and marvelous views! Our kids enjoyed the pool all day, and also the nice beach nearby was a great place to stay. We were worried about the villa didn't have an airco, but this was not needed (as Jeroen told us before). The thick stone walls keep its pleasantly cool in the house. The first days we eat around 19.00 on the big veranda and we found out the wasps are active at that time. We solved this by eating an hour later, this solved this little “problem”. The Datca Peninsula lived up to all our expectations it was fun driving through spectacular scenery to find quiet little bays and get really off the beaten track. Datca town was lovely and didn't feel too touristy - the large market on Saturday was a particularly friendly and colourful experience. The little authentic villages are really worthwhile to visit (eski-datca, hizersah etc), and the village people are very friendly and helpful! Thanks again Jeroen and Ebru for answering all our questions upfront, and Zafer, the local responsible guy for villaolivio, for helping us with every question we had! We come back for sure”.

Alain:

We were looking for a holiday place next to the Mediterranean sea, for our family of five. We don't like very much crowded places, and hotels with 400 rooms, but rather places where we can live amongst local people, and try to get a feel of their life.

We found Villa Olivio via the Home Exchange website. I immediatelly felt that the villa could meet our expectations, even if it was not yet finished to renovate. Thanks to the detailed explanations and the great website of Jeroen, we were able to get a real feeling of the place and we felt confident we would spend a great holiday in Villa Olivio.

And it has been at the level of our expectations. The house has been renovated with a lot of taste, keeping the atmosphere of the ancient olive oil mill, while offering all modern commodities. The outside patio is the place where we stayed most of the day when we were at the house, playing games with the kids or reading books. The pool is just perfect, always available for a swin, day or night. We enjoyed also very much laying on the sun beds at night, watching the stars in the sky...

The nature in Mesudye is unspoilt, the water in the various beaches is crystal clear, and I hope it will stay like this for many years to come.

Last but not least, the people we met in Mesudye were all friendly and always welcoming. We will always remember this moment, when we were walking in the village, and we were invited by a group of old men to have a "tchai" whith them at the local "cafe". We spent a good half hour talking to each other, with the five words of turkish we knew ! I will also never forget Zafer, the "house keeper", who has solution for every problem or wish we could think of.

We spent a great time in Villa Olivio, and I have already shared my experience with many friends. I would not be surprized that some of them decide for a vacation in Villa Olivio in the near future.

“peace and quiet with a view”

Reviewed 24 Sep 2015

great place. large veranda. splendid view. it was really hot when we were there... luckily there is air conditioning in the bedrooms. the water pressure from the shower heads was quite poor, but we soaked them in vinegar for about an hour, and they were as good as new. we took the boat tour to knidos - which stops in a few bays on the way back -- and they grill fresh fish for everyone on the boat for lunch. definitely worth it. otherwise, just relaxing on the beach, by the pool and on the veranda. couldn't have asked for a better place or surroundings.

thanks Jana! We hope to see you back soon!! Jeroen & Ebru

“Beautiful, peaceful place to have a holiday.”

Reviewed 17 Jun 2015

The villa was lovely and the location was especially beautiful. The pool with its infinity view of the sea was fantastic - sparkling clean and inviting. Zapher who looked after the villa was helpful and friendly and everything to do with the booking was simple and straightforward. If we had a criticism, it was that the villa was a little dark inside, especially the shower. However, having been an old olive press made it very interesting.

Thank you very much for your review! We hope to see you back in villaolivio once! Jeroen & Ebru

“A place with lots of privacy, beautiful view and between the Turkisch people”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2014

Every day Zafer came to clean the pool, gave us tips and answered all our questions. In the neigbourhood are nice cheep restaurants. The beach is near to the house. The house is very comfortable and the view is beautiful. Every morning you can buy fresch baked bread a few houses further. It's baked in a stone oven by a Turkisch neighbour. Datca is a very nice place, with a harbour en the market on saturday. The house is a perfect place for people who want rest and nature.

“A relaxed hideout in beautiful Turkey”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2014

At Villa Olivio you have to take things at a gentle pace, and that's what you're there for. A beautiful villa with some old features, a great pool and enough space inside as well as outside. Go to the hidden beaches down the road to Cnidos and have lunch on the beach in Datça city centre! And while you're there, do some grocery shopping at the large supermarket. As it's not next door. :)

Thank you very much for your review! We hope to see you once back in Datca!

“Simple & Perfect”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2013

We have spent 5 fantastic days with my girlfriend in Villa Olivio in October. Weather was very good, we were able to go to the beach everyday and lit the fireplace only once. We were impressed by the simplicity and perfection of the interior desing and materials used. Kitchen hold everything you need, garden and poolside are great to spend time outdoors, view is great. We stayed as a couple but upto 6 people can stay without any problems. The info sheet we received before our arrival had all necessary information. Very well organized, amusing time spent!

“We have found paradise, and it's the Villa Olivio in the Datca peninsula!”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2012

Zafer, the guy who looks after the villa for Jeroen and Ebru told us that when he drives down the mountain road from Datca to Mesudiye his heart lifts when he sees the bay, and wow, it does just that. This place really is heaven on earth! From the villa the views are truly spectacular, the beautiful coves, the turquoise sea and the hazy blue of the Greek Island in the distance. The villa is great, a really intelligent transformation of the olive mill into a cool, contemporary interior, which still maintains its rustic character. We loved it, and the pool is fab. We'd all go back tomorrow if we could!!

It is a beautiful house in a lovely environment. The people are really nice and friendly. The further you get on the peninsula, the further you go back in history. Seeing old women riding on donkeys with their olive harvest.

Thank you for your review. Nice how tell the story, how further on the peninsula the further you go back in history. We hope to see you back once in beautiful Datca

“superb, quirky villa with amazing views, great location and just what we needed.”

Reviewed 11 Nov 2011

This converted olive factory had won us over from the minute we drove into the driveway. The villa was thoughtfully design with lots of quirky touches like olive sack cushions and bespoke handmade furniture. We loved the industrial look to the kitchen, espcially the concrete worktops. The colourful painted chairs gave a family feel to the inside and out with a huge dinning table on the veranda that we used everyday for meals and the kids drawing and painting. The pool was a perfect size, not too big not too small. It has the most amazing views of the Greek Islands and although we arrived in early October, the breeze coming up the mountain was very welcome due to still being very hot during the day. All mod cons were available to us here with the exception of a microwave..... We mainly stayed in the villa to dine in the evening, cooking was here was easy and the BBQ was used nearly every night. The beds were very comfortable and in general the villa is in great condition and very clean. A local shop just a 5 min walk away provided fresh bread, milk etc ..... All in all we had the perfect family holiday ....very relaxing with warm days and cool nights. The location was very perfect as we didn't want the usual tourist resorts. We loved the marina's and fish resturants and local beaches, all only 10mins drive away. Car hire is a definate requirement. Five *****.

Dear Connie It was a pleasure to have you as guests in our villa last minute. Once again it proved that november is a lovely time to stay in this area. Thank you very much for your helpful review Take care jeroen & Ebru

“Wonderfull villa in Datca. A fantastic find in unspoiled Datca”

Reviewed 13 Sep 2011

We booked this villa in June for one week during our round trip through southern Turkey. In one word I can say this place is AMAZING! We found a hidden gem in Turkey. The villa is wonderfully restored. It transformed from an old olive mill to a four-star- private-resort. The owners did this with much respect for its former use, and kept the most old details intact. But in the mean time introduced luxury in the same style with all the fittings. The location is very private , yet very close to the beach. Something we really liked a lot. It's only 3 minutes by car down the valley to the beach in Mesudiye. But we liked to take the next beach ( 7-8 minutes away ) where you couldn't find absolutely nobody. White sand and turquise sea, all to ourselves. The villa itself is very spacious. It has two bedrooms. One with a (absolutely lovely five-star!) king size bed. The other one with ( the same five-star quality ) queen size bed. And then there are two single beds whiich can be put together. We brought our 7 months baby girl and the owners arranged a baby cot for her to sleep in, and a chair to sit at the dinner table. It has an open nice fitted kitchen ( mega-fridge with cube machine, a dishwasher etc. ). Wifi and sattelite big screen TV. It has a nice pool which is cleaned everyday. The booking payment and communication was very easy. The owners (Dutch ) are quick to respond. The drive from either Bodrum or Dalaman is not too far and has excellent roads/ I can highly recommend this villa. Datch is a wonderfull part of Turkey to explore. When coming back from holiday I emailed the owner, and I allready have a reservation in the books for next year! We can't wait! haha

Thank you very much David! Good to see you return so fast already, I hope you're next holiday will be as good as the first one. Thanks for writing the review. Jeroen
