The property is on a ridge overlooking the Gapeau valley. The beautiful view is stunning. Located 800m from the medieval village of Méounes-les-Montrieux, it has an open space design of kitchen, lounge and dining room (60 m2). The kitchen is custom built, fully equipped with modern appliances. The WC and bathroom fittings are gold plated for ease of cleaning and we have water softner for added comfort. The villa has very quiet reversible air conditioning and under floor heating in the bathroom for the cooler months. The pool is set into the terrace (80m2) and can be seen completely from inside for the security of children. The beautiful pool is very private and not overlooked. The 3 large double rooms have fitted cupboards. The house is tastfully furnished with antique French furniture. The garage will keep your car protected from the weather.

The Provence region
Situated at the eastern end of the Saint Baume, Méounes is the first village as you come into Provence Verte from the coast. This is Pagnol country, made famous in his books Jean de Florettes and Manon des Source. Méounes has many sources in the village from which locals and the many cyclists use to fill up their bottles. Just up the road, Gareoult has a colourful Provencal market every Tuesday morning, well worth a visit. There are walks next to the Gapeau river, horse trekking, paintball within five minutes drive. The summer truffle market in Aups is open every Wednesday morning from 9 to 12.
Provence is the most attractive part of France due to the climate and scenery, the Mediterranean sea and mountains. With delicious food eaten seasonally, truffles, asparagus, artichokes, wild boar, the list goes on. From here you can reach St Tropez or Marseille with an hours drive. Italy can be reached in two hours. The north of the Var has the Gorges de Verdon, Europes Grand Canyon

"Spacious, well equipped and a beautiful setting"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at l'Hermitage. The house is large and modern, in a sympathetic provencal style. Surrounded by low trees and overlooking the valley, it's a lovely tranquil setting. The village is 800m down the hill along a narrow road, with good mini-supermarket, bakers, butchers, pharmacy etc. The house is spacious with large windows from the living room overlooking the pool and valley. Automated shutters mean the interior stayed cool even on the hottest days, and there's aircon in all rooms if needed. The region has plenty to see and do: good walking in the hills woods and valleys, market towns, and hilltop villages. We went to the beach at Les Lecques, which is an easy 40 mins away and even in mid-August was not too crowded or expensive. It's sandy and shallow, so ideal for family paddling and swimming. Simon and Isabelle gave us a lovely welcome, and were very helpful and communicative from the moment we booked until after our return home. Parents should be aware that the pool is large and single depth - good for swimmers, but wouldn't be so good if you have toddlers or children not confident in the water. Although there is a pool alarm, there's no fence, and the tiles around the edge are quite slippery when wet. The pool is shaded from early evening, so sitting out by the pool at the end of the day was a little chilly on a couple of days when the sun was behind the trees and the wind was up. Overall, a lovely place for a holiday - the house, its setting, and the region.
Thank you for your kind comments. We are glad you enjoyed L'Hermitage. We agree with you, it is not a location for toddlers and very young children. We refuse to rent to families with children below five years of age, as is stated on the site. Our youngest guest so far was an eight year old and she thoroughly enjoyed her holiday. The beautiful location (on a ridge),the panoramic view and the villa are more to the taste of older children, adolescents and adults. We hope to see you again in the future.

"The Real France!"
We stayed at this amazing villa for a week and were absolutely bowled over by the setting and the villa. The house is surrounded by staggering views on every side, with sweeping mountains and lush fragrant vegetation. The villa itself is beautifully realised with excellent up to the minute facilities. There is a delightful pool where one can relax and enjoy the ambience of Provence. This place is ideal for a restful break whilst being within relatively easy reach of Toulon and Marseilles.
