“Lovely villa in a stunning location”

Reviewed 16 Aug 2016

We spent 2 fantastic weeks at Villa Isella exploring the delights of Lake Como and Lugano. Lovely villa with great facilities. I especially enjoyed my evening swims in the pool, Having the 24/7 supermarket 5 minutes drive away was definitely handy and meant we never had to worry about running out of necessities. Kathy is a perfect host and the villa is equipped with all you need. Lots to do for all the family. Don't miss swimming in the lake, trips to Varenna and Mennagio and the market at Lugano. For cycling enthusiasts the cycling museum at the top of Bellagio is a must.

“Paradise”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2013

After a tricky time trying to find the villa in complete darkness ( it was well after midnight) we shuffled in exhausted and found the apartment wonderfully inviting, spotlessly clean and beautiful. The following morning we went downstairs for a stroll around the grounds. Well - everyday here had the same effect on me. The views and gardens are breathtaking. Remember in the 'Wizard of Oz' when everything changed to colour. Wow.. That's how you feel when you walk around the grounds of Villa Isella. Its the perfect spot to enjoy this magical corner of Italy and Switzerland. With all the majesty and charm of Como only a 10 min drive away, Switzerland 15, the excellent 'La Rotonda' ristorante ( don't miss this) 5 mins on foot you really feel as if you have struck gold. Kathy, the owner of our apt, was extremely helpful in sending us so much information, and Fritz from downstairs - we nicknamed him 'The Oracle' for all his advice! Look no further for a fabulous holiday!

“Tranquillity close to Lake Como & Lake Lugano”

Reviewed 10 May 2013

Villa Isella is located on the slopes above Lake Como & Lake Lugano in Northern Italy with easy access to the Milan Airports, the lakes and the numerous hiking paths in the area. The road up to the Villa is quite steep, but can be navigated by even bigger cars with experienced drivers. Once you are at the Villa you can enjoy the tranquillity of the hills above the lakes and the friendly atmosphere in the Villa and the surrounding villages, including a local Pizzeria popular with the Italians in the area.

“Home from home in a stunning region”

Reviewed 7 Oct 2012

We have just returned from the beautifully situated Villa Isella. Our aim was to take in a few sights but mainly to relax and Villa Isella certainly provided everything that allowed us to accomplish this. The apartment feels like a home from home. Spread over two floors, it was relaxingly comfortable, stylish and extremely well kitted out with plenty of wardrobes and storage. It’s location, in a charming setting perched mid-level on the mountainside, allowed quick access to Lake Como and Lugano but is far enough away from the main road to be free of any traffic noise and the hurly burly of this popular region. However, I was glad we had a small car as I wouldn’t like to attempt the local roads with anything larger. It is just a short drive to three supermarkets, a launderette and all the amenities that the tourist lakeside towns of Porlezza and Menaggio have to offer as well as being within easy reach of the major attractions and transport connections of Lakes Como & Lugano. The manicured large grounds offer stunning views both east and west and overlook the tranquil Lago di Piano, they also contain a decent sized clean swimming pool, BBQ and amble parking. Being gated the complex felt thoroughly secure and its permanent residents were friendly making us feel very welcome. On the few inclement days we enjoyed the extensive range of DVD’s and games. And on those evenings we didn’t feel like cooking, a short wander down the lane took us to a popular hilltop restaurant where we watched the sun set over Lugano. All the locals were very friendly and none more so than the staff there, as well as offering delightful food, they gave us a warm welcome on all our returning visits. To sum up, we thoroughly enjoyed the region, apartment and I look forward to my next visit.

“Lovely apartment in a stunning location, with breathtaking views!”

We stayed here on a mini road trip across parts of Europe and the place was perfect to relax for a week. The apartment was clean on arrival and the chilled bottle of Prosecco went down a treat! Our daughter loved spending time in the pool while we enjoyed sunbathing and enjoying the views in the beautiful gardens. Supermarket was within 5 min drive and nearest town on Lake Como was 10 min drive away. Cathy, the owner was extremely helpful with info before we booked and arrived at the apartment. We also found the residents who lived permanently at the Villa very accommodating during our stay.
