On colder days enjoy the glow and warmth of the Scandinavian, wood burning stove. Underfloor heating beneath the solid oak flooring adds even more comfort. The open plan, contemporary kitchen area is equipped with every convenience needed to enable you to enjoy your stay.

Further details outdoors

During the sunny day time and warm evenings, you can enjoy al fresco living on the extensive, sheltered balcony decking which runs the full length of two sides of the cottage and has beautiful, clear, (safety) glass balustrade, allowing uninterrupted views from both inside the cottage and outside. There is a further area of private, flower garden in front of the cottage and a generous parking and turning beyond, easily accessible from the public road. Even the views from the parking area are impressive!

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The Scottish Borders is the land of ballads and legends, of the great writer, Sir Walter Scott and the poet James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd, a varied landscape both beautiful and wild, on the margins of Scotland and England from where generations of 'rievers' raided cattle from rivals in a lawless country known as the 'debatable lands' It is bounded by the rolling Cheviot Hills to the south, the Lammemuir and Moorfoot hIlls to the north, the Tweeddale hills to the West and, to the east, by the sea along the coast of Berwickshire. Edinburgh, the vibrant capital city is just beyond the region, to the north and can be reached from Melrose in less than an hour.

“Perfect contemporary cosy cottage for two.”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2017

Immaculate property very well designed. Beautifully located for lovely walks along The Tweed, surrounding countryside and into Melrose. The property has a very large wrap around balcony with gorgeous views. The nice wood fire is so homely on colder evenings. The fresh cream and raspberry scones were delicious.Fell in love with Melrose a wonderful little town with marvelous facilities. Can recommend Burts Hotel in Melrose and The Seasons restaurant in Gattonside for good food. We enjoyed our visit to Abbotsford House and Gardens. One week was not enough. We are coming back as soon as we retire in the next six months.

“Fantastic cottage”

Reviewed 23 Apr 2012

Amazing accomodation, very comfortable with everything you need & more. Ideal location too as only 10 - 15 min walk into Melrose where there is a great choice of places to eat & drink. fantastic cycling on the doorstep. It was also really nice to meet Robert the owner. Amazing views, came straight home & went on the computer to book again for the summer but is sadly already booked. Have recommended to family & freinds who are now also looking to book. Truly wonderful place.... looking forward to our next visit
