The Brittany region

Brittany is one of the most beautiful regions in France, with a long attractive coastline, tranquil countryside and unspoilt historic towns and villages.

At the coast, you will find safe family sandy beaches, dramatic headlands and peaceful coves, often linked by the coastal footpath. The seaside towns and villages are worth seeking out and exploring as well - here you will often find traditional French bakeries as well as restaurants and bistros.

Inland Brittany is equally attractive, with peaceful countryside where you can find traditional Breton villages, chapels and market towns. The area is ideal for cycling - there is a good network of cycle paths , and away from the main roads you will see little traffic.

Megrit

The house is in the peaceful village of Megrit which has a small bakery and shop .

About 10 minutes by car is the pretty lakeside village of Jugon Les Lacs with a number of good traditional restaurants and a weekly market held in the town square . There is a sailing centre from which you can hire boats and a Mountain bike centre where bikes can also be hired to explore the network of bike trails.

There is also a heated open air pool here , so plenty to keep the family busy!

If you fancy horse riding, you can find this at Plelan Le Petit , about 10 minutes by car.

A 20 minute easy drive will bring you to the medieval town of Dinan with its intact town walls, castle and many restaurants.

The port is also great for bike and boat hire, which lead you along the river Rance, with its picturesque scenery. A short drive north will take you to the safe family beaches of the North coast - our favourite is St Jacut de la Mer with 11 beaches dotted around a promontory.

The walled corsair town of St Malo is well worth a visit, as is the spectacular Mont St Michel, reachable in about 45 minutes by car.

“A beautifully restored historic farmhouse property with a lovely garden”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2015

A lovely old property which has been beautifully renovated to provide a clean, comfortable and well-presented haven in a lovely little village. The beautiful garden is a real feature of this property and the conservatory is a cosy place to sit with a view of the garden. There are several villages only a short drive away, where supermarkets, restaurants, bakeries, banks etc. can be found. The property is also within easy reach of Mont Saint Michel, Dinan (a fascinating mediaeval town) and some lovely coastal villages. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Le Manoir des Clos and appreciated the assistance of Shirley who managed the property and made sure we were comfortable during our stay.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to send this review, and we're very glad you enjoyed the house, and the garden. We think you've given a good summary of the area, and I'm sure other potential guests will be helped by your posting. It's very satisfying for us and the owner to receive such positive comments, and we'd like to thank you for booking with us. Jeremy

“A stunning property in a historic French setting”

Reviewed 21 May 2015

Delightful property, set in a large, beautiful and well-kept garden. The house is very clean, comfortable and very well catered for. Set in a small and pretty village, the property is within easy reach of St Malo, Dinard and the coast. A lovely home, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Manoir des Clos and we will be back.
