Location description from owner

The Region of Murcia region

The Costa Calida (or warm coast ) has a superb climate with over 320 days of sunshine every year and hot summers and warm winters. It is a great all year round holiday destination with attractions to suit all tastes.

Murcia is a province with an extensive coastal area that is still one of Spain's best kept secrets. The capital Murcia is beautiful, with its Moorish heritage, cathedral, city walls, fashionable shops and boutiques and wonderful local cuisine.

Cartagena is a vibrant and historic city with plenty of great shops, bars and restaurants as well as its cultural heritage. It remains a naval base and has a large marina and an esplanade with good parking underneath and some lovely bars and cafes.

Mazarron Country Club

The social club is a short walk away where you can find the bar/restaurant, communal tropical style swimming pool (open summer only), a boules pitch and tennis courts. Tennis and boules equipment for your use is included with the villa.

There is plenty of walking locally with footpaths to the hills giving great views across the country club and to Mazarrón and further afield. The lovely beaches of Puerto de Mazarrón and Bolnuevo are a short drive away and in the opposite direction are the hills of the Sierra Espuña, a national nature reserve with great walking. We can arrange guided walks.

The nearest supermarket is only 5 minutes away by car at Camposol where there is also a selection of bars and restaurants and several banks. This is also the nearest golf course (18 hole).

The busy resort of Puerto de Mazarrón has a wide promenade where you can stroll the length of the beaches with shops, bars and restaurants. It also has several lovely beaches.

The town of Mazarrón is very Spanish and has a historic centre, including links to the Romans.

Around the Bay of Mazarrón, there are many scuba diving sites giving a variety of dives for all levels of expertise all year round. There is a diving school in Puerto de Mazarrón.

There is a street market in Mazarrón on Saturday mornings and a very large one in Puerto de Mazarrón on Sunday mornings. There are stalls selling produce such as fruit and vegetables, fresh fish and meat, cooked chickens, bread and cakes and stalls selling clothes, shoes, bags and gifts. After spending the morning at the market you can treat yourself to a coffee, a cool drink or a menu del dia (3 course lunch, around 10 euro) at one of the many bars and restaurants.

The golfers have a great choice of courses within easy reach of the villa. From the nearest at Camposol only 5 minutes away by car to courses such as Hacienda del Alamo, Alto Real, Torre Pacheco and Desert Springs which are within 45 minutes drive. The courses at La Manga are also easy to reach.

You will find lots of information on the Mazarrón area on www.mazarron.es/ingles

“Fabulous villa for a relaxing holiday”

Reviewed 20 Jul 2016

We had a fantastic 2 weeks at Villa Serena - our 3rd visit -. The villa is beautiful with everything you could possibly want for a relaxing holiday. The lovely garden with it's own swimming pool and views of the surrounding mountains is superb. We spent our mornings by the pool and barbecued most evenings dining al fresco. The patio table under the Gazebo is a particular attractive feature. There are many lovely beaches nearby- our favourite was Bolyneuvo just a 10 minute drive and amazingly quiet. The Oasis de la Palmeras is a great place for lunch with tapas a specialty. The booking went very smoothly from start to finish and we were given lots of useful information. We didn't want to come home and have already booked again for next year

“Everything was perfect”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2013

A wonderful villa in a peaceful location. We were looking to get away from the hectic day to day life and this holiday ticked all the boxes. Following a last minute booking we were given lots of useful information from the owner including directions and things to do. We were greeted upon arrival by a resident who ensured we had everything we needed. We spent most days relaxing by the private pool and making use of the bbq. We rented a car to allow us to visit the nearby marina and stock up on supplies at Lidl. Hopefully we can come back next year and do the same thing again it was that good !

“Great Central Location”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2013

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at your villa and enjoyed every minute of it. The location is in a great central location for beaches and exploring the mountain tracks and walks. The swimming pool is large and refreshing , The villa was exceptionally well equipped and there was everything you could need there for a comfortable stay.. There are some great sights to see and a trip to the Sea Defence fort was really impressive, the coastal drive was challenging but provided some amazing scenery as did the sand stone structures. The area has so much to offer and is still relatively unspoilt by development Have fun

“A great place to relax and enjoy the best sun in Spain”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2012

From start to finish the experience of going to Villa Serena was fantastic. The help received from Helen in booking, to the extra info about travel etc was great. We had stayed in Country Club Mazzarron before, in the same type of villa, however the location on site, was much better, with a lovely breeze coming of the mountains. The villa was really well equipped, with everything that would be required for an enjoyable holiday. We stayed with our children and they enjoyed use of the inflatables and toys for the pool. If you want a noisy, party type of holiday, don't come here. If you want a holiday as a couple or young family, were you want peace and quiet, and to relax, this is the place for you. The beach down on Bolneuvo was our favourite, which is only a ten minute drive from the villa (car is a must). The beach is large, clean, with facilities, and not crowded. All of the roads leading to the villa are excellent, with motorway links to all major towns. I would recommend a visit to Cartagena. All in all a brilliant villa, with everything included, in a lovely region of Spain, with plenty of restraurants, beaches, shops, within short driving distance. I hope to return again and would recommend this villa above others on site.

“Relaxing week in well equipped, spotlessly clean villa”

Reviewed 28 Aug 2012

We stayed at the villa Serena for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The villa is very well equiped and big enough for a family of four. The pool area is absolutely fab, with ample seating and perfect space for evening BBQs. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area, whether you just want to chill out on a beach, taste local cuisine or check out shops. The owners Helen and Phil, kept us up to date with news/developments in the area; suggested places to eat or to explore and generally made our stay as enjoyable as possible. Would highly recommend - we will be back!

“A peaceful break”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2012

We had a peaceful week at Villa Serena. The pool was absolutely brilliant and kept our 2 Girls(9 & 12) very occupied. Everything at the villa was very clean and the villa itself is very well presented, my first initial impression was that i was getting very good value for money. The only down side for me and my family were the hardness of the beds, however this is not an issue if you like hard beds. the information pack at the villa is very in depth and was very useful when deciding on where to eat The area surrounding the country park is very quiet if you are looking for a lively social life then this area is defiantly not for you, there are plenty of restaurants on the coast the only problem you will have is deciding on which one to visit. The area north of the country club called Campasol has a small precinct of shops bars and restaurants mainly owned by ex pats and the food in this area is good, plus there isn't the issue with language barrier. We had a great time and certainly recommend for those who desire a peaceful family holiday
