Description

Sicilian Baglio is a perfect choice for those of you who don't like compromises: renting this old countryside manor you can have both the true Sicilian country life experience, and all the comforts of a five star luxury villa. With its tuff-stone walls, its many amenities and its lush garden the baglio will turn your holidays into something memorable.

An old stone arch will welcome you after a long boulevard, and bring you to a wide yard completely cobbled with cotto tiles. Even from a distance you'll be able to notice the old gigantic ficus that shades the house, surrounded by two wide porches adorned with the traditional sicilian wagons and original farmer tools, that will cast you into a typical sicilian country atmosphere.

The garden is embodied in a wide lot of land that measures 10.000 sqm, enclosed in it a verdant grove of pines and fruit trees. On the outside you'll find all the facilities that you would usually find only in high-end resorts: a private 12,5x5mt swimming

On the outside you'll find all the facilities that you would usually find only in high-end resorts: a private 12,5x5mt swimming pool, and a large gazebo nearby, provided with sunbeds to lay down and relax soaking up the sun; the estate includes a tennis court and a soccer field at your exclusive disposal. Another area of the garden has been set up to host barbecue parties with a large grill and a veranda nearby.

Now let's get inside. In Sicilian Baglio every detail has been taken care of: the already refined quality of interiors is enhanced by wooden ceilings, in the living room, and rustic oak beamed rooms. The living room is truly vast, with spots for every occasion. Among the others, you'll surely appreciate the fireplace corner and its comfortable armchairs and couch: summer days can be warm, but this could be a perfect cozy spot for one of those breezy late summer nights or just for an after dinner drink. Or you could be happy to enjoy an evening billiards match in the living room.

On the ground floor you'll also find 4 double bedrooms, and a sofa-bed to be used as an accommodation for two more guests, in an area separated from the actual living room.

The whole house has been renovated using only the best materials, with a special care to keep unaltered the authentic countrystyle. The tuff-stone walls are surely one of the highlights of this estate, lending it its quintessential sicilian atmosphere, clearly recognizable in the accurately selected furnitures as well. The kitchen has been built using traditional maiolica tiles, and is provided with a wooden workbench with a marble countertop.

On the first floor you'll find the master bedroom which features a double bed and two single beds - which brings the count of sleeps up to 12, along with the sofa-bed and double bedroom on the ground floor. If you take a look outside from the master bedroom's balcony you will have a nice view of the pines grove; but a better view can be enjoyed from the large terrace and solarium: we assure that the garden, with its collection of exotic plants and the outstanding gigantic ficus, is a terrific view from there.

Mazara del Vallo, the ancient town founded in the 9th century BC by the Phoenicians, is just a three minutes away from the estate. The city is a true jewel and a great example of typical Arab-Norman architecture, surely worth a visit. The seaside is nearby as well: within five minutes you can either get to one of the beautiful beaches in the area, or go for the immaculate rock seacost.

Location description from owner

The Sicily region

Mazara del Vallo

Sicilian Baglio is in a perfect position to enjoy Sicilian countryside, without giving up the comfort of being close to the sea. Sicily's Western coast is marvelous and offers the chance of a relaxing day at the beach as well as a naturalistic hike on the rock shore.
You will be just five minutes away from Mazara del Vallo's city centre. This is a town with an ancient history that goes back to the 9th century: originally founded by the Phoenicians, Mazara passed under the control of several populations such as Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, and Byzantines. Each and every one of them left its own distinctive mark, but you'll surely notice a strong Arab influence, a sign you will easily recognize in the architecture, along with a strong Norman accent. The unique blend of these two styles is a typical characteristic of Sicily and surely catches the eye of every tourist who comes to visit the island. Mazara has always been renowned for its fishing fleet and fish market, and today is one of the most important fishing centres in Italy. The market is quite a view early in the morning when fishing boats come in with their fresh cargo.
Among historical places and monuments this sicilian old town has to offer, you surely don't want to miss Piazza della Repubblica's Norman Cathedral: the church has been built in the 11th century to replace an old Arab mosque, and then it's been renovated during 17th century in line with the typical baroque style of the age. The most famous attraction in Mazara is probably the Dancing Satyr, sculpted by Greek artist Praxiteles, held at the Dancing Satyr museum, inside Sant'Egidio's church.
