A trampoline and a swing are also at your children's disposal.

It is located in the heart of the authentic and unspoiled Provence, (Mazan is the village where English actress, Keira Knightley, wedded in May 2013 and has a vacation house). We have only one rental, so you won't be surrounded by other guests. You will be welcome by my parents, Claude and Marie-Pierre, who live nearby the house and who will be delighted to help you with anything.

Great places to visit: Avignon, well-known for its bridge, Popes' palace and famous theater festival in July, typical markets in the village or nearby villages (the fruits and vegetables are stunning), antics in l'Isle sur Sorgues, Roman ruins in Vaison-la Romaine, beautiful view from the Mont-Ventoux mountain. The Tour de France, famous cycling race, will have its last step on July 14 2016, in the mythic ascent of the Mont-Ventoux.

A welcome basket with local products will be offered at your arrival.

Location description from owner

The Provence region

Provença in classical norm or Prouvènço in Mistralian norm, is a geographical region and historical province of southeastern France, which extends from the left bank of the lower Rhone River on the west to the Italian border on the east, and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea on the south.[1] It largely corresponds with the modern administrative région of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, and includes the départements of Var, Bouches-du-Rhône, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and parts of Alpes-Maritimes and Vaucluse.[2]The Romans made the region into the first Roman province beyond the Alps and called it Provincia Romana, which evolved into the present name. It was ruled by the Counts of Provence from their capital in Aix-en-Provence until 1481, when it became a province of the Kings of France.[2] While it has been part of France for more than five hundred years, it still retains a distinct cultural and linguistic identity, particularly in the interior of the region.[3]

Mazan

The Vaucluse is a department in the southeast of France, named after the famous spring, the Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. The name Vaucluse derives from the Latin Vallis Clausis (closed valley) as the valley here ends in a cliff face from which emanates a spring whose origin is so far in and so deep that it remains to be defined. The village of Mazan is situated in the Comtat Venaissin, often called the Comtat for short (in Provençal lou Coumtat Venessin, la Coumtat in mistralian norm and lo Comtat Venaicin, la Comtat in classical norm), which is the former name of the region around the city of Avignon in what is now the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. It comprised roughly the area between the Rhône, the Durance and Mont Ventoux, with a small exclave located to the north around the town of Valréas bought by the pope John XXII. The entire region was an enclave within the Kingdom of France. The Comtat also bordered (and mostly surrounded) the Principality of Orange. Avignon itself was never part of the Comtat but constituted a separate comtat (county) in its own right, in effect forming an enclave within an enclave. The region is still known informally as the Comtat Venaissin, although this no longer has any political meaning.Places to see around Mazan: the Chateau de Mazan (previous Marquis de Sade's castle, now a restaurant), Isle sur Sorgues (Antics market), Carpentras, Vaison la Romaine (Roman ruins), Avignon (the famous bridge, the pope's palace, the theatre festival in July), the Fontaine de Vaucluse, the Mont Ventoux...

“Ideal to visit the Vaucluse and surrounds”

Reviewed 2 Jul 2016

We stayed at "La Colline" for 2 weeks with friends. It was a good choice because from there you can visit a lot of interesting places without having too much driving to do. There is a lovely daily Producers Market close by if you feel like tasting the savours of the area. The owners are very pleasant and although they live next door they fully respect your privacy. They were also very helpful when we had two technical problems and all was sorted out very swiftly. We would also recommend this location to travellers with children. The woods on the property offer plenty of opportunity for safe playing as well as a fantastic treehouse and charming fairy cottage. The swimming pool is very welcoming after a day of visiting the area. The only thing that would make a stay for 6 people more "practical" would be a second toilet. It was a lovely holiday.

“house with amazing garden and pool”

our stay in this house could not have been better the hosts gave us a warm welcome, the house was very clean with everything you need and is in a big property. the pool is beautiful. the location is ideal, you are in the middle of Provence's attractions : avignon, mont ventoux, luberon, vaison la romaine, cotes du rhone well-known vineyards ... a great place to discover this beautiful region !

“Excellent and exquisite!”

No need for air conditioning for us, fans were enough, and the place is just marvellous... lots of space, and Claude and Marie-Pierre are extremely welcoming. The place is really children friendly (wooden cabin, swimming-pool, squirrels, lots of trees) and fenced up. Soap, towels, bed linen and basic food products are provided, and the back garden looks like paradise... hammocks...very relaxing, yet perfect for families.

“Very pleasent hollidays !”

A recommander vivement ! Marie-Pierre, Claude, merci pour votre accueil, d’avoir pu faire connaissance de votre famille, des bon moments passés avec vous tous et pour les ballades nocturnes avec les enfants !
