Birdsgrove House is a beautiful house in a stunning setting with extremely well-kept grounds which stretch down to the River Dove. It fitted perfectly with the idea of the sort of venue we wanted for our early June wedding. We were a “mature” couple looking for a wedding venue. We had sisters, brothers, children, and grandchildren who lived a long way away so we were looking for a house where we could have enough bedrooms for them all to stay for a weekend houseparty with the actual wedding held there. There were enough bedrooms for them all to stay for the whole weekend. One family with children of varying ages stayed in Hope Cottage in the grounds and their parents said it was perfect for them, and they were very happy there. When we saw Birdsgrove House and were shown round by Kerry, the proprietor, we knew we had found the right place for the wedding we had in mind. We had 30 people staying on the Friday evening, more guests arriving on Saturday for the wedding, and another 35 friends for the evening celebrations. On the day, the room where the ceremony was held looked lovely with dainty chairs, and a huge window looking out onto the grounds. The room was then transformed into a dining room for the wedding breakfast. The house is versatile. As well as the large reception room with comfy chairs and settees where guests can sit and talk, there are other rooms where they can sit for a while and then go and dance as and when they want, with a separate room for the disco. There is a playroom there which was extremely popular with the children. Outside in the grounds there is a trampoline and fort with a slide which the children loved. The guests enjoyed walking around the grounds and by the river. Kerry has the expertise which we needed, as it was a daunting prospect to have to organise the weekend, and she was extremely helpful with many suggestions. The house works very well for families of all ages and was ideal for us. We had so many people commenting on what a lovely venue it was, and since the wedding we have had more cards and thank you letters saying that it was so perfect, and how much people had enjoyed the wedding weekend.

Gathered the extended family for a long overdue rendezvous to celebrate Mum's 80th birthday. The house was perfect for our large family group (aged 3 to 80!!). The beautiful house and its facilities were superbly presented and we had everything we could have wished for. The grounds and garden were beautifully maintained and provided plenty of space and amenities for the kids to play - and for the ''oldies'' to walk and relax in peace down by the river. We couldn't have asked for a better venue.
