Location description from owner

The England region

It's hard not to fall in love with Cornwall. For some it's the happy memories of a childhood seaside holiday. For others it's the brief fling of a teenage summer. For most it's a passionate affair that lasts a lifetime…so let the affair begin!

Located in the far west of Great Britain on a peninsula tumbling into the vast Atlantic ocean, almost completely surrounded by the sea, a magnificent coastline wraps around Cornwall for almost 300 miles. Cornwall is also the location of mainland Great Britain's most southerly promontory, The Lizard, and one of the UK's most westerly points, Land's End, while a few miles off shore and even further west is an archipelago of tiny islands that make up the Isles of Scilly.

There are lots of things Cornwall is loved for; the dramatic coastline with its captivating fishing harbours; the spectacular beaches and the pounding surf that provide a natural playground for a variety of watersports; and of course the Cornish pasty and cream teas.

Mawgan Porth

Mawgan Porth sits in the perfect location for a peaceful, relaxing and wonderfully memorable holiday in Cornwall.

Situated mid way between Padstow and Newquay on the rugged north Cornish coast, Mawgan Porth offers you a beautiful west facing beach, stunning scenery, wondrous walks and superb surfing.

There are many activities in and around the local area such as a great pitch and putt, which incidentally sits atop an Iron Age fort, crazy golf, fishing (coarse, sea and trout), go-kart racing, surf schools, ten pin bowling, a candle factory - the list is endless. There is also giolf at the very nearby Merlin Golf Club (half a mile) and also great courses at Newquay and the famous Trevose and St Enedoc

For the walkers of this life there is the South West Coastal Path which passes right through Mawgan Porth, so from here you can walk northwards towards Padstow, passing en route the starkly beautiful and legendary Bedruthan Steps, supposedly created by the giant Bedruthan walking the coastline. You can, at low tide, go down the many steps (not those of the giant though) to this long and sandy beach to walk or explore the caves.

Walking on from here brings you to Porthcothan Bay,Treyarnon Bay with its natural swimming pool in the rocks at low tide, Constantine and Booby's Bay, Trevose Head and lighthouse, Mother Ivy's, Harlyn and Trevone Bays and finally Padstow from where, no doubt after a little refreshment, you can get a bus back to Mawgan Porth.

Taking the Coastal Path south brings you to Watergate Bay, Porth and finally Newquay. Again buses can return you to glorious Mawgan Porth.

“Outstanding View”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2014

A really wonderful location with stunning views of the bay from an enormous living room window. The house was immaculate inside with quality furnishings. The deck was an excellent spot for sun-downers after walking the coastal path. Will definitely be going back.

Owner's reply: Sun downers after a long coastal walk - perfect!

“Amazing location and great facilities”

Reviewed 20 Oct 2014

As a family with young children The Pin provided us with everything that we needed for a great family holiday. The house is well equipped and beautifully presented, decorated to a high specification. Mawgan Porth beach, which is only a short walk from the house, is lovely and perfect for children, with rock pools,a shallow running river into the sea, and amazing surfing conditions in the evening . There are lots of attractions in the surrounding area if you want to do something different or fancy a day out.

Owner's reply: Its so nice to have such a positive response from a family with children. We hope to see you again.
