Little Larsas Retreat is situated in a beautiful and ideal location for visiting the many attractions the Peak District has to offer. Chatsworth House is only a 15 minute drive away and Alton Towers is within good driving distance. Walkers can enjoy all levels of walks; along trails, across peaks and dales or even over rugged moorland. The adventurous are spoilt for choice; ballooning, rock climbing and canoeing are to name but a few, whilst families can adventure down caves, view the scenery from high above in a cable car or even zip wire through the tree tops! If that all sounds like too much, we have many quaint villages, farmers markets and antique shops to wander around and there's always the option to just simply sit back on the terrace with a glass of wine and a good book and enjoy the far reaching views of the valley and beyond.
The interior is full of Modern Vintage Style. Vintage finds sit along cherry picked pieces making a fun, fresh and relaxed interior. The property includes plenty of original features; cornices, ceiling roses and sash windows, which are all complimented with cheery English Heritage fabrics and wallpapers. The combined effect is stylish, homely and welcoming.
Upon your arrival you will be welcomed with afternoon tea. Enjoy HOMEMADE SCONES and STRAWBERRY JAM PRESERVE, all topped with delicious local dairy clotted cream. You'll also be welcomed with fresh flowers, soft music and cosily lit rooms, ensuring you will instantly feel at home. You will find your beds beautifully dressed with freshly laundered, pure Egyptian Cotton.

THE CONSERVATORY...You enter through a small conservatory and where your meals can be enjoyed. Here you will also find the tourist information, local historical books, maps, and books covering all level of walks for you to use.
THE KITCHEN.....The kitchen is fully equipped and comprises of hand painted cupboards, gas hob with overhead fan, electric oven, microwave and Butler's style sink. We have provided plenty of cupboard ingredients; Coffee & tea, salt, pepper, olive oil etc. You are also provided with washing up liquid, cloths, cleaning products, bin liners, cling film and tin foil.
THE LOUNGE...Open plan with the kitchen is the lounge. The ceilings are high and finished with original Victorian detail. The room is painted in a delicate blue heritage paint which enhances the rooms' features. A large bay, south facing window and a second east facing window provide an abundance of natural light. Views of the valley can be enjoyed through the bay. Two white cushion filled sofas benefit from washable fabrics which are regularly laundered. There is a flat screen TV with SKY viewing plus a DVD and CD and plenty of DVDs plus Wi-Fi.
THE BEDROOMS...The main bedroom is beautifully styled, feeling romantic and inviting. The bed benefits from a memory foam mattress topper, a luxurious quilt, the finest Hungarian Goose Down pillows and deliciously soft, 400 count EGYPTIAN COTTON BEDDING. There is also a choice of different weight duvets and pillows to suit your preference if required. There is plenty of storage in the double wardrobe with drawers and the dressing table too has drawer space. There is also a hairdryer for your convenience. The twin room is styled in modern vintage and designed to feel cheery and fun.
THE BATHROOM...The bathroom is fitted with a clean white bath suite with overhead shower and glass screen. The room benefits from being fully tiled. Towels are provided for each guest.
THE TERRACE...The outside decked area is enclosed and is furnished with a dining table and chairs. South facing you can enjoy far reaching views which include High Torr and The heights of Abraham and Riber Castle.
PARKING...There is private off street parking provided for 1 car.

PETS...Two well behaved small dogs are welcome though unfortunately we CANNOT ACCEPT dogs that MOULT and hold naturally STRONG ODOURS. Dogs MUST be kept OFF THE FURNITURE and OUT OF THE BEDROOMS at all times.
THE LOCAL PUB & MATLOCK...Within a short walking distance is the dog friendly, country pub where you will receive a warm welcome from the staff and locals alike. There is a large beer garden to enjoy and home cooked food is served. Matlock is only a 15 minute walk where you with find all usual amenities and plenty of bars and restaurants including; Italian, Indian & Thai. You will find a lovely park too located next to the Derwent River with plenty of facilities including; flower garden, Wi-Fi, coffee shop, tennis courts, mini golf, a skate board deck, children's playground with pool and train and boat rides for the kids.
THE HEART OF ENGLAND / PEAK DISTRICT / DERBYSHIRE REGION...The scenery around Matlock is magnificent. Originally a hamlet with one of only a few crossing points along the length of the River Derwent which carves its way through a ridge of limestone just south of Matlock in order to reach the lower ground to the South. This part of the valley is spectacular, steep-sided, winding and wooded, with high cliffs such as High Tor towering above attracting many rock-climbers, walkers, fishermen and bird-watchers. Some of this dale is a National Nature Reserve representing some of the best examples of wildlife habitat and geology in the White Peak area of Derbyshire being renowned for its range of rare flowers, otters and buzzards. The area is perfect to explore on foot or cycle. The Peak District is a walker's paradise. We are extremely fortunate to live in one of the many beautiful parts and within a stones throw are stunning walks by the river.
All within an easy drive are Matlock Bath, Chatsworth Stately Home, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Youlgreave, Spa town of Buxton and the whole of The Peak District National Park on your doorstep.

“The best staycation we've had!”
We've had a brilliant holiday staying at Little Lhasas Retreat in Derbyshire. On arrival we were welcomed by the owner who made us feel instantly relaxed after a long journey. The property is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean and we settled in instantly. Debbie was extremely helpful. We hadn't visited Derbyshire before and so her advise and help was very much appreciated. As a family with young teenagers we wanted an action packed holiday to tire them out and we got it! They were quiet as lambs in the evenings!! The property is ideally located for all that the area offers. we were to go canoeing in Matlock and horse riding just outside in Darley Dale. Carsington Water in a great place to spend the day, with it's huge water expanse all sorts of water activities are on offer. We chose however to hire bikes and spent the day cycling. The local pub is warm and welcoming and we spent most evenings enjoying meals there. All in all, we all agreed it was our best holiday in this country - thank you Debbie
Fantastic property, amazing views, great hospitality. Matlock is a beautiful place the Dales are lovely to view and Bakewell town was very dog friendly.
“Beautiful views and decor”
First impressions of the apartment were that the views were stunning and the decor is gorgeous (very girly). The only negative side to the accommodation is that there is no storage in the second bedroom so had to utilise main bedroom as storage for everyone. The location itself is good although in hindsight wish we had stayed more local to Bakewell as Matlock just isn't as nice! Spent a gorgeous day at Chatsworth which is only a 10/15 minute drive away. Overall really enjoyed our stay - very clean and comfortable.

We've stayed in many holiday lets in Britain and this has to be up there with the best for value for money. Beautifully decorated throughout and so many little extras that wouldn't usually be expected in its price bracket. Debbie, the owner couldn't do enough for us - advising us on where to dine out, helping me surprise my partner for our anniversay and her home made scones were delicious! Great location for visiting the attractions. We both love walking and so we tried a walk over Stanage Edge. Had a superb lunch at Rowleys in Baslow - quite pricey but you get what you pay for. Overall, a thoroughly memorable break.
“Love this retreat and all the little touches”
This has been so special for me and my family. Little Lhasas is so relaxing and comfy. My bed was so lush! Despite it being February we saw a beautiful sunset from the terrace - in our coats, with our champagne! We have stayed in every night to enjoy the joy of being here. We have soaked up all - candles, cremes, cakes, colours etc. etc. We went to Middleton Moor to watch the starlings and we'd recommend the Farmyard Inn in Youlgrave for a cosy atmosphere, real fire and good food.

A lovely little hideaway with fantastic views, very pretty inside. The owners are very nice and welcome you with tea and cakes. The directions are clear and the owner thinks of everything! there's games, books, written out walking ideas and rainy day ideas. I would highly recommend this place :)
