Description

Bel Air has been our family holiday house just inland off he cote d'armor in Brittany for 15 years.
My three boys have grown now but we have spent many summers with the house filled to the brim with friends who have enjoyed spending their days on the nearby beaches or visiting the rustic towns and villages to return to the peace of the country side surrounding the house.
The open plan living area comprises of a fully equipped kitchen with a large five hob stove set into an island/ bar arrangements and oven making cooking for large groups a social occasion more than a chore. the kitchen looks onto the dining area which look through into a double living room meaning that with larger groups there is the possibility of sitting in separate areas of the house whilst maintaing a lovely unity that has meant that we have enjoyed many family holidays there with visiting friends with children of mixed ages.
Above the living area are two floors... one with two bedrooms and a shared

Above the living area are two floors... one with two bedrooms and a shared shower/toilet in the middle. We have pushed up into the attic where have created two more rooms under the eaves which also share a shower toilet.
The main bedroom sits above the kitchen and dining area under more eves with its own en-suite bathroom. Its access is tricky, it has to be said, though completely manageable via a little step ladder leading off the main stairway
There is a very large south facing garden perfect for football matches and a BBQ .

I am Australian, married to a french man and will generally be available to let you in and show you around and help answer any questions you might have about how to thoroughly enjoy your stay.

Location description from owner

The Brittany region

The Cote d'Armor is a region full of medieval History. there is the historic walled town of Dinan a 20 minute drive away and the Forte la latte is a beautiful medieval ruin which can be visited.
In August Dinan hosts a three day medieval festival where people travel from all over to partake in jousting and other open air events.
This coast is also famous for its monoliths and there are many walks that can be taken.
We are an hour away from the world famous Mont Saint Michelle and from the De Bretagne making it the perfect starting point for day trips.
golfers have access to many golf links and courses, the nearest being at St Cast le Guildo which is 11 kms away and a further well known one in Dinard which is also a lovely sea side resort made famous in the 1930s with its Art Deco style casino.

Matignon

The nearest small town is Matignon, a five minute drive away and it is well served with a large supermarket; a weekly market selling locally produced fruit and vegetables, artisan cheeses, calvados and a variety of fresh meats. The small town has a number of cafes, bars and restaurants to suit a variety of tastes. There is also a Veterinary Surgeon located in the square which is useful if you are bringing your pets.

There are a plenty of beaches and coastal walks and lots of opportunities for cycling around the countryside.

Day trips include, the Mont Saint Michelle, Dol de Bretagne, and the quaint medieval town of Dinan. Rennes, is also an hour away.

The region is famous for its local food including gallettes (savoury pancakes) and cider.

Children will love the near by Beaches of St Cast le Guildo with their big tides offering plenty of opportunity for catching crabs and mussels. Water sporting clubs offering sailing and wind surfing are also available at the St Cast beach and the "wilder" penguen beach with its fabulously situated beach cafe.

Horse riding and Tennis courts are also available at near by St Cast le Guildo

Matignon and St Cast both have tourist offices and there are weekly markets in both towns which are a wonderful way to get out and mix with the locals whilst buying lovely fresh produce.
