Description

The Snug joined the Holiday Lettings website six years ago and has welcomed guests from around the world all praising the booking process and the payment options. We have seen several guests return to enjoy the comforts of The Snug and the magic of Masham. Visit Trip Advisor for guests comments confirming the cottage's credentials, The Snug is rated 'Excellent' Trip advisor in May 2017 & 2018 presented us with our 'Certificate of Excellence' confirming our five star rating from past guests. We are currently no. 1 on Trip Advisor for holiday cottages in Masham as voted by previous guests.

On arrival enjoy homemade afternoon tea on the cottage's finest china relaxing in the Courtyard or in front of the glowing log burner. Our stone built two storey self catering central heated holiday cottage is full of old charm with beams, wood burner, timber floors and thick wobbly walls. Furnished to a luxurious standard to provide accommodation for up to four guests. Children and dogs most welcome. Owned and managed by husband and wife, Richard and Karen who live close by.

Masham is a beautiful Yorkshire Dales market town in Lower Wensleydale, famous for its local breweries, Black Sheep and Theakstons with its unadorned beauty made up of old stone and solid character providing a popular destination for visitors.

Cyclists often meet in the Market Square and that was before Masham was included on the route of the Tour de France. We welcome cyclists who are looking to do the tour route at their pace! Good cycle storage and external maintenance space.

The Snug is located two minutes walk away from the Market Square, home to a good selection of eating and drinking establishments including two breweries and shops selling good quality local produce.

• Bathroom with shower and under floor heating to the first floor.

• Two bedrooms – master bedroom, super king or twin and second cosy bunk bed room (fitted with adult sized thick mattresses). Large storage cupboard with hanging rail in the master bedroom, good drawer storage in both bedrooms. Both bedrooms are on the first floor.

• Secure parking for motorbikes to the rear

“Rekaxing”

Stayed in this wonderful cottage for 3 night did a lot of walking and spent time in in the village had evening meals at a couple of the pubs excellent food in the bay horse, Bruce arms or even the white bear very friendly place visited the black sheep brewery worth going on the tour free drink afterward would recommend the snug cottage

Had a wonderful few days at The Snug Masham perfectly located for walks is the beautiful surrounding countryside and for visits to York Harrogate and Whitby. The Snug was cozy comfortable and well equipped- we will definitely be back.

We have stayed in masham before and know what a great base it is to see the beautiful surroundings. But this time we just wanted to park the car and not get back in it again till we were heading home. We just wanted a lazy time and masham didn't disappoint ... it's a lovely place to stay in it's own right. And the snug was just as it's name suggests, a beautiful quaint cottage in a perfect location for lazy breakfasts in baghdads cafe in the square, long dog walks, great fun in the kids park, and leisurely evening meals and drinks in the kings head. The snug has everything you could possibly need including the most comfortable beds!! And what a lovely welcome on arrival.... tea milk and a delicious homemade lemon cake. It's touches like this that make a holiday even more special. Thanks Karen for a lovely stay

Charming clean and warm cottage with the icing on the cake being a huge comfy bed with bedding smelling of washing powder , bliss ! Talking of cake we really appreciated the delicious lemon cake, chocolates and flowers waiting for us on arrival . Thankyou

We enjoyed a 3 night stay which was perfect for experiencing the local sights. The log fire was soon blazing and the complimentary lemon drizzle cake was delicious. Black Sheep & Theakstons breweries are a short walk as was the large market square where we sampled a few ales in the Bruce Arms and a tasty lunch in the Kings Head. The White Bear next to the Black Sheep brewery also tempted us, Harry's chippie serves up fantastic fish n chips with batter too! Our 2 black labs had a great time walking to Hackfall Wood and swimming in the Ure, the recent flooding had receded unveiling stranded salmon 200 yrds inland! Altogether a wonderful few days (we were lucky with the weather) and we plan a return visit in the summer.. Mark & Judith

The Snug was a very well-presented cottage, comfortable enough to enjoy relaxing in if the weather means you don't feel like going out. Masham town has plenty of interest in terms of galleries, cafes (and breweries, obviously), and Ripon and Harrogate are both within comfortable range. Plenty of outdoors to explore, but maybe a damp November is not the best time for this. Would certainly consider returning at another time of year. Karen was very efficient and helpful dealing with all stages of the booking process and stay.

Quaint, cosy cottage within walking distance of local shops and eateries. The Snug was clean, well equipped and the lemon cake was delicious. We did have a minor problem (of our own making) which was sorted out without fuss quickly. We hope to return at a future date.

The Snug is excellent. Furnished to a high standard. Impeccably clean and the bed so comfy. Masham is a lovely little market town with everything you need. Two amazing butchers, bakers and candle stick makers . Explore the Dales and return to the Snug as a place home from home. Karen provides a welcome tea left out for you on arrival. So thoughtful and very welcome. If you stay you will not be disappointed.

On arrival my wife instantly fell in love with the cottage and the village. The cottage was very well equipped and included useful information about the cottage itself and some of the attractions available in the area. With all shops, cafes & pubs within easy walking distance, the cottage is an ideal base for both exploring the village and the surrounding area. We found the people in the village to be very friendly and hospitable. We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Masham and will be back.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
