The Languedoc-Roussillon region

The region is graced with over 300 days of sunshine a year, miles of sandy beaches and inland the herb-scented hills and mountains are flanked by mile upon mile of vineyards with beautiful old villages punctuating the landscape. There is an excellent transport network (air/road/rail) which means getting around to explore the many attractions of the area is easy, whether it be visiting vineyards, Roman remains, historic cities and towns. You can equally just relax on the beach or take a boat trip on the lake. Whatever you choose to do, this region has so much to offer the visitor and is packed with interesting places and activities that you will want to return to soak up more.

Marseillan

The village is surrounded by vineyards and lapped by the waters of the Etang de Thau, home to the famous oysters, mussels and delicious fresh fish, with the local Picpoul de Pinet wine a perfect partner. The Canal du Midi starts/finishes at Marseillan and is a great place to walk or cycle along. A dedicated cycle path takes you from the village to the beach along the shores of the Etang, extending to Sete and Agde and there is also a bus route. Bikes can be hired at the port, there is lagoon sailing, wind/kite surfing, tennis and riding nearby. But also you can just simply relax and enjoy the pace of life in Marseillan.
