The Red City
Marrakech is known as the 'Red City' thanks to the blush-coloured walls that surround it. Constructed in the 12th century, the bricks are made from tabia, which is a mixture of red mud and water from the Hazou plains. But anyone who's been to the city will know that its nickname doesn't do it justice. Red is just one colour in Marrakech's kaleidoscope.
You'll get the best feel for this in the city's souks. Bright spices are piled up in pyramids, freshly-dyed carpets hang from the sides of stalls, and silver lamps glint with the promise of a genie inside. It's a similar story in Jemaa el-Fna, Africa's biggest square. Ten times busier than Piccadilly Circus at rush hour, the market place is alive with snake charmers, story tellers and potion sellers.
This is one of the major landmarks in the city. It is a World Heritage Site and serves as a commercial center for much of central Morocco. Come ready to haggle!

“An excellent choice!”
Look no further if you are staying in Marrakech! This apartment is truly wonderful and unique, nicely located in the north of the city centre. Some friends and I stayed here during January to catch some winter sun, and it was our best holiday yet. We were greeted by a young gentleman named Hassan who is part concierge, part security. He gave us a tour of the apartment, and ran through the formalities. He left us his mobile number and told us we can call him 24/7. He proved to be very helpful over the trip. The apartment was in perfect condition just as it’s shown in the pictures. It offers a more intimate and cosy setting unlike what you get in a big chain hotel. 3 large double rooms, all in clean excellent condition. 2 huge bathrooms with both Showers and Jacuzzis! Also plenty of fresh clean towels on hand. The living room is the perfect chill out zone… huge sofa, bean bags, large Plasma TV and a good sound system. Sliding doors reveal a large balcony with seating, nice view overlooking the area. The big kitchen has everything one could wish for! All untensils are clean and ready, we enjoyed doing some home cooking here! The location of this apartment is great, 5 minutes in a taxi can get you to Gueliz (Central new town), 10 minutes can get you to Jemaa El Fna (central old town). The taxi rank outside is also ideal! There is 24/7 security at the main doors which adds to the feeling of security. The landlord communicated brilliantly from start to finish, even providing lots of useful information about the area, taxi fares, local restaurants etc. I would 100% recommend this apartment and have already booked for my next trip, looking forward to going back.

Great property, beautifully furnished. All amenities and more. Very good location in Gueliz and just a short taxi ride into the old city. Gorgeous balcony too. The photos do not do it justice. Great helpful owner who is always in touch if you need him. If you want a home from home and your own space in 5 star surroundings then book this.
