Description from owner

An English speaking manager will welcome you at Dar Patrick, happy to answer your questions and provide you any advice or information that you may need on what to do locally, or perhaps an organised excursion. In short, everything to make your holiday complete.

Dar Patrick is a fine example of a traditional Marrakech town house, the street bustle of the Kasbah contrasting with the tranquillity of the inner courtyard, its surrounding rooms and cooling fountain. The owner, an English designer has sensitively restored this dar, preserving all its original features of carved decorative plasterwork, coloured glass and timberwork, sympathetically creating a modern home while enhancing its timeless appeal.

The main salon, set on the ground floor, reflects the owners eclectic taste. The fine collection of furnishings represent an arresting fusion of French, English and Moroccan styles, a complement of charm, the exotic and of comfort, yet also providing satellite TV with a full range of English

The Marrakech-Tensift-El Haouz Region

Dar Patrick's location in the Kasbah, only 15 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from neighbouring Guélis by taxi, makes it a very accessible location. Dar Patrick is situated in Derb Chtouka, which is a quieter more residential part of the Kasbah. Derb Chtouka is well signposted and even more unusual for the Medina, wide enough for your pick up or drop off by taxi, or maybe, you would prefer a calèche (a horse drawn carriage).

Abdou is also available for any other trips that you may choose to make during your stay, be they local or out of Marrakech.

Marrakech

The Kasbah where Dar Patrick is situated is an ancient imperial enclosure, the domain of sultans and their retines since ancient beginnings. This royal and religious status makes it a focus of many places of special interest.

Close by Dar Patrick is the Royal Palace and the impressive Agdal Garden. Laid out in 1157 they cover a vast area stretching out southwards beyond the walls of the Kasbah itself. Leading into the Kasbah is the monumental Bab Agnoau this famous 12th century gateway is constructed from blue granite. Formally heads of executed criminals were displayed on its frontage. A short distance inside the Bab Agnoau gate is the Kasbah Mosque with its handsome part tiled tower built in 1185/90. Adjacent to this is Marrakech's most visited attraction, the Saadian Tombs, one of the worlds finest examples of Moorish architecture. A short stroll away is the impressive ruins of what once was a sumptuous palace, the Badii palace, built in 1593.

“A calm oasis in Marrakech”

Reviewed 12 Oct 2014

We had this beautiful riad all to ourselves and were very comfortable with our two very young children (a three year old and a baby). It was lovely to come home from the heat and bustle of the city and a treat to have a light breakfast and housekeeping provided too. The rooftop terrace was totally private and comfortable with loungers and a couch area. The location was great too - far enough away from the medina that it felt like an escape, but not so far that we couldn't walk there in 20 minutes. Had delicious meals at the Clock cafe right next door and also at the posh hotel across the road. Communication and booking were effortless and the manager on site was always available via email and spoke perfect English.

“An amazing riad!”

Reviewed 8 Mar 2014

Dar Patrick was absolutely perfect! Great communication before our stay, even being able to sort out an extra bed at short notice for a 7th guest. The building was beautifully decorated, rooms comfy and the roof terrace was nice and peaceful in the evenings. We organised a taxi with Hassan to collect us from the Supratours bus station, and then he was able to give us some great tips of things to do, how to get around etc. The riad was easy to find, in a nice little neighbourhood and only 15-20mins from the Jemaa el-Fna. Hassan organised some great trips for us too - a 1 day waterfall trip in to the mountains, and then a 2 day trip where we stayed overnight in the desert (which was my highlight of our Morocco trip!). The maid was super friendly and made a huge breakfast spread for us every morning. We could not recommend this place enough! Would thoroughly recommend if you are a group looking to rent out a whole riad.

“Fantastic experience!”

The Dar Patrick Riad in Marrakech is absolutely an enjoyable experience! During our one week stay Hassan, the local manager, has been very kind and has given us plenty of advices about the city and what to see and to do. For me and my family Marrakech and Dar Patrick Riad have been a fantastic vacation!!

“A beautifully restored Riad in the heart of traditional Marrakech”

Reviewed 18 May 2013

Dar Patrick was the perfect place to stay in Marrakech and I would highly recommend. It is beautifully restored and gives you a real sense of staying in a Morroccan house rather than some impersonal hotel. A fantastic breakfast on the terrace each morning and great staff. A real pleasure and if we return to Marrakech we would definitely stay there again.

“great holiday in Marrakesh”

First piece of advice: make sure you have a contact number and a precise address for Riad before your arrival as it is tucked away at the end of a dark alley between 2 small shops.in the middle of a long street. Our arrival was a bit traumatic as there was nobody waiting for us at the airport and we had to take a grand Taxi that charged us a small fortune to take us to the Riad in the dark. After that things improved greatly. The riad is extremely spacious ( it was only my son and I staying there), the decor somewhat decadent/baroque in style but lots of Moroccan tiles and lovely pottery sinks in bathrooms. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the hot shower very relaxing. Our house keeper provided us everyday with a lovely breakfast as well as interesting information on Moroccan lifestyle.
