The Bungalow is a spacious, high-quality, detached property sleeping two, situated at the rear of an attractive 17th century former farmhouse in the village of Marksbury, near Bath. It offers a cosy and peaceful retreat, combining a rural setting with close proximity to all the wonderful attractions Bath, Bristol and Wells have to offer. It was assessed as 4 Star Gold standard in 2013 and since then it has been improved and updated.

The Bungalow is centrally-heated and equipped to a high standard. The large dual aspect lounge/diner has comfortable furniture and large patio windows which lead to the garden, where there is a patio, lawn and garden furniture for guests to enjoy. There is a flat screen television with DVD player, iPod docking station and free wireless internet access. The kitchen is newly-fitted and well-equipped with the usual modern appliances to make self-catering an easy and pleasurable experience. The large bedroom is dual aspect and has views over the garden. It has fitted wardrobes and a comfortable metal-framed, antique style double bed. There is a travel cot and a put-you-up bed available, and if these are required a small additional charge is made.

There is a bright, fresh, newly-fitted bathroom with bath, shower over the bath, washbasin and a separate WC. And there is very convenient parking on the driveway. Overall, it is light and airy, and an ideal place to base yourself to explore the beautiful West Country.

The property is ideally situated for visiting Bath, Bristol, Wells and many other West Country attractions such as Longleat, Stonehenge, Cheddar Gorge, Weston-Super-Mare and National Trust properties such as Stourhead, Dyrham Park and Tyntesfield.

Marksbury is a village 5 miles from the outskirts of Bath and 4 miles from Keynsham, situated on the A39 where it meets the A368. It has an interesting church, believed to be late 12th century in origin. It is only a 10-15 minute drive to the centre of Bath, and there are nearby Park & Ride bus services to Bath and Bristol. There are several pubs a short drive away, serving great food and a convenient small supermarket and petrol station a couple of minutes' drive away. Facilities for golf, swimming, fishing, spa days, paintballing, quadbiking and horseriding are all nearby, plus the considerable shopping and cultural opportunities Bath and Bristol offer.

Marksbury is ideally situated to provide you with beautiful walks. There is wonderful countryside to explore right from the door or a short drive away and the Cotswold Way is close by.

The Somerset region

The city of Bath is one of the top tourism centres in the UK. Its attractions, besides the wonderful Georgian architecture, include Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, the Pump Rooms, the Royal Crescent and the Thermae Bath Spa with its rooftop swimming pool. It has a variety of theatres, museums and other cultural and sporting venues. For eating out and shopping you're really spoilt for choice, and The Christmas Market, held in the heart of Bath's main shopping district, with over 100 traditional chalets adorning the streets, is well worth a visit. In 2013 it runs from 28th Nov-13th December. Wander the quaint Georgian streets, following in Jane Austen's footsteps, and pop into one of the lovely teashops to sample a traditional Bath Bun.

Bristol is a cosmopolitan city which has something for everyone, and like Bath, is well blessed with shops, restaurants, museums and art galleries. The Harbourside area is particularly interesting and you can explore this popular maritime city from the water on boat tours. There's lots of fun to be had at Bristol Aquarium and AtBristol, a 21st century science and technology centre. The world's first great ocean liner, Brunel's SS Great Britain, Bristol Zoo Gardens and the Clifton Suspension Bridge are also major attractions.

Wells, the smallest city in England, is nearby, with its magnificent cathedral, dating back to about 1175 AD. Glastonbury, Stonehenge, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Longleat, and many National Trust properties such as Stourhead, are all within easy reach, as are the attractive Cotswold towns of Cirencester and Tetbury.

The countryside around Marksbury is ideal for walking, and boasts many country pubs, serving great food. Facilities for golf, swimming, horseriding, fishing, quadbiking, spa days and paintballing are all close by.
