Description from owner


The 'East Wing' extension is situated to the rear of our family house and has it's own independent entrance. The apartment sleeps 2 plus an occasional 2, people. The rooms are spacious and are linked by a corridor being all on the ground floor. It is ideally suited for disabled use and all rooms are well insulated. With rear views onto open meadows, this is a truly peaceful location. There is an additional cloakroom and utility room.

There are numerous shops, supermarkets and restaurants (and Pubs), within a 3 mile radius.

* Quality fully furnished and equipped accommodation located close to Market Harborough, and Rutland Water. Ideal as a base for touring, Rutland, Leicester (Richard III Museum), and Northamptonshire , and for business in Corby, Kettering or Leicester.

* well behave dogs and indeed children are most welcome.

* Very private with its own patio, garden and Bar-B-Q area.

Getting around

A local bus service passes our door although the service is not very frequent. The Main line station at Market Harborough (2.5 miles) provides trains to Leicester, Nottingham and London etc. A local taxi service too is available.

Interaction with guest

Our policy is to allow our guests there own space, peace, security. and privacy. However Louise and I occupy the main house and so are on hand if required. We will be there to greet you and to explain the workings of the accommodation and equipment but apart from that guests can come and go as and when they please.

I cannot recommend this spacious holiday retreat highly enough - especially the more than adequate welcome package. It is in a quiet rural setting but close to all main towns and motorways. The rooms are beautifully furnished and every care has been taken by the owners to ensure a wonderful break for their guests, thank you, we will return soon I hope !

Peter and Louise made me very welcome. The facility is spotless and very comfortable. Every basic supply was provided, including home made preserve. Situated in a quiet village, with plenty of local attractions and walks. Home away from home!

Our holiday in Wickham House was brilliant, we were made very welcome by the owners & felt very 'at home'. It was very easy to travel to varying tourist spots from this area. The countryside is very beautiful for walking, cycling & water sports at Rutland Water and fishing both there & at the Eyebrook resevoire. Overall a very lovely area & accommodation.

I knew after just a few emails that this would be be a nice place to stay. My expectations were well founded and the establishment more than met my desires. The owners, Peter and Louise, are very accomidating and helped us sort out our needs for our 3 yr. old son. We stayed for almost 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The fully equipped kitchen made it very convenient for us to cook our own meals. The availability of a large furnished living room/dining room area made it feel like we had a whole house at our disposal. 1 1/2 bathrooms also made for a stay that that felt anything but "cramped" as a single room in a bed and breakfast would have done. The nicely sized full bedroom was excellent and suited our needs as a family. My 3 yr. old son loved the lower lightswitches that were originally installed for wheelchair bound folks. This site would be IDEAL for people with disabilities. 5 years ago my wife and I came to the UK and traveled all around Ireland, England, and Scotland. We stayed in many nice bed and breakfasts along the way but it wasn't even close to what we had available here. Here you have half a house at your disposal and this is a great joy for such a long stay. I can't say enough about how nice our experience here was. Peter and Louise spoke to us often in the mornings as we were heading out for our daily activities. They asked about our needs and concerns, offered help in many ways to us non-Uk types, and made sure all our needs were met. We are staying at Wickham House, Sutton Bassett, this is our 4th week out of 6 and we are having a wonderful holiday. The accomodation is perfect and our hosts Peter and Louise could not have been more helpful. It is a very nice area with lots to see but also very peaceful. There is lots of information on places to see and do in the area. I would strongly recommend the annex to everybody it is wheelchair friendly and we would certainly come back again.
