How to get there

**** IMPORTANT Note to SatNav Users ****

Some of our guests have reported an issue with some SatNav systems which have their destination set as “Uig,” “Uig Pier” or “Skye”.

When leaving Fort William heading north, some systems suggest turning left onto the A830 road to Mallaig. It should be noted that this route necessitates taking a car ferry from Mallaig to Armadale. Crossing time is 40 minutes – assuming there is available capacity.

The normal, quickest and most reliable route is to continue north on the A82 when leaving Fort William. Road is signposted A82 “Inverness” & “Kyle of Lochalsh”. Take the A82 to Invergarry then turn left onto the A87 and continue across the Skye Bridge on the A87 to Portree and Uig. This is the route that SHOULD be indicated by SatNav if set to “No Tolls” or equivalent.

Uig Pier, Skye is at IV51 9XX

FROM LOCHMADDY PIER. NORTH UIST:

Tigh-na-Mara is easy to find. Assuming you are coming from the Lochmaddy ferry terminal, you would take the A867 signposted “Lochboisdale” to Clachan-a-Luib on the west coast of the island (about 8 miles). At the T-junction at Clachan, turn right (signposted Claddach Chirciboist). The township of Claddach Kirkibost is located 2 miles from the T-junction at Clachan-a-Luib. Tigh-na-Mara is located on the left exactly at the road sign which says “Claddach Kirkibost”. Signs saying Tigh-na-Mara are on the gate and in the garden. The drive from Lochmaddy ferry terminal will take about 10-12 minutes.

SatNav: Tigh-na-Mara is at: N 57º 33.550’ W 7º 22.090’ or HS6 5EP.
