All Whitby's many attractions are in walking distance of the house, including the bus and train stations. Lovely train rides on the heritage North York Railway to Pickering go through Grosmont, Goathland etc. Mainline trains to Middlesborough also go through some lovely scenic villages and can be used to get to and from inland walks. There is a good bus service up and down the coast, so getting back from walks to Robin Hoods Bay and Runswick Bay, for example, is straightforward.
