How to get there

There are two major routes and two more minor routes onto the island. All are extremely beautiful and are worth visiting either on your journey or as an excursion.

The commonest route is over the Skye Bridge. Guests usually come either through Glencoe and Fort William on the A82 or on the A9 to Dalwhinnie.

Another option is to turn west at Fort William and go to Mallaig past the Morar beaches and Glenfinnan. There is then a Caledonian McBrayne ferry from Mallaig across to Armadale. Check the ferry timetable. A minor route isthe ferry from Glenelg (A82) to Kylerhea which runs from Easter until mid-October and normally operates daily between 10am - 6pm. Lastly you can come onto Skye from the Outer Hebrides arriving in Uig.

Getting around

Skye is amazing and there is much too much to describe. There are ferries which allow you to visit other parts of Scotland and Islands. There are many outdoor activities. There is scenery and history. There are many restaurants. But there is not much land based public transport so you need a car or (if you are very keen and fit and have a bike with good low gears) you can cycle. Just Google "Skye"
