How to get there
Gwalia Cottage is situated on a quite stretch of the A470, which makes it ideal for touring the surrounding area and beyond!
If you are coming from the M5/M6/M54 direction keep heading towards Llangollen on the A5. Make your way towards Betws-y-Coed , then take the A470 towards Dolgellau. Drive through the pretty village of Dowyddelan( and it's castle!) and travel down the hill, past the LLechwedd Slate Caverns, and Gwalia Cottage is approx. 400 yards on the left hand side, with the blue porch. Please note: There is no designated parking for the cottage but you can usually park on the opposite side of the road or on one of the side lanes very close to the cottage. Please take care when crossing.

Getting around
We would recommend a car, just because there is so much to see in the area! but local transport is good. Why not catch the steam train, from the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, and travel to the bustling town of Porthmadog? National trains also run from Blaenau Ffestiniog to London, Chester and Llandudno. Buses also run frequently from the town centre to Porthmadog and the surrounding area.
