The drive to Playa Hermosa from the San Jose International Airport takes about 90 minutes and the road is fully paved. The route to the pacific coast is straight forward but does require you use the national toll route No 27. So it is necessary to have some local currency with you before you depart. The tolls are not expensive so have $10 USD in local currency and you will be able to cover the toll costs.

From the airport follow signs for Route 1 West. Stay on Rte 1 Autopista Bernardo Solo for 6 miles (10km). Then take the exit signposted to Radial El Coyol to Route 27. Continue over the first of two roundabouts following signs for Best Western Jaco. At the second roundabout turn right to the main highway signposted to Orotina / Atenas onto Route 27 the Autopista del Sol.

This is the main toll road that takes you to the pacfic coast. Follow Rte 27 for 27miles (45km) Then, once past Orotina take the next exit for Route 34 following signs for Jaco / Quepos. After exiting the roundabout towards Jaco you will be on Hwy 34 (Costarnera Sur) and this pacific coast road will lead you straight to Playa Hermosa.

Continue on Hwy 34 through Herradura and past turnings to Jaco stay on the main highway heading over the mountain towards Playa Hermosa

As you arrive down the hill into Playa Hermosa you will see several small hotels and restaurants on the right hand side of the road. (Landmark; Vista Hermosa Restaurant). On the way out of Playa Hermosa, the last restaurant you will see is called The Back Yard Bar. On the right you will also see a turning signs to the beach just before a left hand bend. Continue around the bend a further ¼ mile (300 meters) you will see Calle Hermosa to the left this is where you must turn off Hwy 34. Landmark: there is a bus stop on the corner (pictured above) marked “Escuela Playa Hermosa” and “Opera Salvaje”.

Continue 1 mile (1.5Km) along Calle Hermosa. Passing Vida Asana Yoga school and on your left travel a further ¼ mile 400mtrs you will see the sign for Carmelita Villas. Turn left and enter the parking lot where we will be pleased to greet you as you begin your vacation
