Location & Directions

There are two ways to reach the island of Crete:

BY BOAT: From Piraeus port, daily departures to Souda port of Chania or to the port of Heraklio.

BY PLANE: There are two international airports on the island: in Chania and in Heraklio.

DISTANCES

Chania Airport: 36km (35 min. drive)

Souda Port of Chania: 21km (30min. drive).

Heraklion Port or Airport: 120 km (two hour drive).

From Chania airport or Souda port: Follow the signs to the highway in the direction of Rethymno. Take the highway. At the junction to Kalyves/ Armenoi take the exit at your right and then turn left destination to Kalyves village. Enter Kalyves and follow the signs to Gavalochori. Continue the way to Gavalochori for 9km. Enter Gavalochori and drive up to the square with the monument. At the beginning of the square turn right and follow the sign to the Pre-Industrial Olive mill. After 80m turn right, after a while you will see a big church at your left, continue straight and after 50meters at the junction turn left. After 70meters you will reach Villa Philia at your left.

From airport or harbour of Heraklio: Follow the signs to the highway in the direction of Rethymno – Chania. Take the highway. Pass all the exits to Rethymno and continue, headed in the direction Chania. After Georgioupolis take the exit to Vrysses, Vamos and follow the signs to Vamos. After Vamos drive for another 5km and at the junction with the sign to Gavalochori turn right. Continue for 6km. Enter Gavalochori and drive up to the square with the monument. At the beginning of the square turn right and follow the sign to the Pre-Industrial Olive mill. After 80m turn right, after a while you will see a big church at your left, continue straight and after 50meters at the junction turn left. After 70meters you will reach Villa Philia at your left.
