How to get there

The Argence region is nestled between the Camargue and Provence. The Rhône runs through the exceptional, beautiful and untamed area between Nîmes, Arles and Aix-en-Provence up to the vast marshy plains of the Camargue. Provence, Beaucaire and its villages are imbued with a culture and way of life where leisure is the order of the day : the town and villages have managed to stay true to their Provençal customs and the traditional festivals that bring the region to life. In the Camargue, there are vast sun-drenched flat and wild areas dotted with lakes and rice fields where the bull is king and the flamingo is the flamboyant visitor.

With its vast marshy plains and lakes edged with reeds which glisten like a mirage, the Rhône's daughter is the perfect place to daydream and wander as free as the wind. The untamed landscape welcomes visitors to explore the treasure chest of natural gems it is home to. Bulls and horses gather amongst salicornia and birds sing and fly off when the reigning flamingo ruffles its feathers. “Argence” comes from the Ligurian word “argentios” meaning “shining”. This term comes from the way the foliage looked on the edge of a hamlet that it was named after. Now all that remains is the Mas d'Argence south of Bellegarde (cf. Jonquières Saint Vincent de Pierre MAZIER). Argence
