We recommend that you hire a car especially if you plan to see the whole island. There are many wonderful places to visit such as Welchman Hall Gully and St Nicholas Abbey to name just two. (further details and recommendations can be found at the house.) Many places are in walking distance, but Barbados is hot and the pavements are not so easy to negotiate. Public buses run up and down Bay Street (the coast road) along the South Coast and you can get to the West Coast on the SpeightsTown bus just outside the house.
