How to get there

DRIVING FROM PISA

The coordinates for sat nav are:

Follow green signs to A 12 motorway
Join motorway and take the direction towards Genoa(north)
Ten mins later at Pisa Nord turn off towards Florence on the E76 motorway
Another ten mins and take the second exit for Lucca(est)
Skirt around lucca on the western side
On the opposite side of Lucca is the route north signposted Abetone
That is the SS 12
About 15 km later you will pass Borgo a Mozzano
You will pass the Devils Bridge on your right
Continue on the SS445 for about 8 km
Sharp turning to your left signposted Fabbrice di Vallico and a lot of other little villages
Now you start your climb passing a lake on your right
5 km up you will enter Fabbrice di Vallico pass through the Carparks at the bottom of the village
On the other side of the village go straight as the road narrows passing a beautiful arched bridge
Continue another 500 meters the road forks to the right and takes you over another arched bridge
Another 150 meters you will see signs for I Romiti
Travel time about 1 hr 15 mins

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

There is a regular train and bus service between Pisa airport and Lucca.

Regular train departures from Lucca follow the historic and picturesque Lucca to Aulla line – nearest station Ghivizzano, where a free shuttle will pick you up for the final 8 km.

Hourly buses from Lucca to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana follow the train line – nearest stop Turrite, where a free shuttle will pick you up for the final 7 km.
