How to get there

You are on your own for the flight. We try to avoid American since they stranded a guest with four children by changing her flight time... and refused to pay for a hotel for the overnight.

The most cost affordable fares in the USA are usually Southwest and JetBlue. From Canada most of our guests fly WestJet. Make sure your connecting flights have a two or three hour window so you don’t wind up missing the connection.

Once you arrive at the airport there are a dozen ways to get from there to the ferry. We recommend CARM. The owner is a local and we have never been disappointed by their service. So wonderful to have a smiling face meet you when you get out of the airport.

They will take you to the Ultramar ferry. It runs every half hour until 9:30. The last ferry is at 11:30PM, so keep that in mind when booking your flights. They do run an extra 12:30 on Saturday and Sunday.

Ride on the top of the ferry, if you can. The water in the bay is worth the windy ride and you will probably be serenaded by live music, some very good and some not for prime time, but all enthusiastic and friendly. The music is free, the artists are not paid. They will ask for tips at the end of the ride. A few pesos are very welcome.

Once off the ferry, you will either pick up your golf cart or catch a taxi to Casa Pastel. We suggest you use google maps to take a virtual ride before you get here. It’s fun and it gives you an idea of where you are going.

We are on the Caribbean near Punta Sur. As you drive out of the main street in the center of town you will the perimeter road. It runs around... the perimeter of the island. Turn to your left to get on the Caribbean side and just follow the road until you can make another left. You just keep as close to the Caribbean as you can get until you see a big round house with a white gate on your right. The sign says CASA PASTEL.

We will be waiting for you to arrive. Relax. You're on island time and your vacation has begun!

Getting around

Taxis are easy to find or rent a golf cart and explore on your own. We can give you numbers of drivers who will come out to the house to pick you up. There are beach clubs, great restaurants, the Joint with live music, kayaks, paddle boards and more within walking distance. The island is about a 1/2 mile - less than a kilometre wide - at it's widest point! If you want to see the ruins or visit a cenote, a local tour company will pick you up on the Cancun side of the ferry and drive you around.
