How to get there
The Le Marche region is located half way down Italy's Eastern coast. With a 180 Km coastline of enticing beaches on the Adriatic Sea to the east, and the gently rolling foothills of the Sibillini Mountains in the west, it provides an enchanting landscape.
The area is blessed with delightful beaches, areas of historical importance, cultural attractions, beautiful scenery and natural phenomena like the Frasassi Caves. For those of you with shopping on your mind there are great opportunities to get a bargain with factory outlets for Tods shoes, Prada, Gucci and many many other designer labels. Discounts of over 50% are not unusual. leave plenty of space in your luggage!
The climate is one of genuine seasons. The summers are long and hot (30-40 degrees - but with breezes), the autumns are stunning as the local forests turn a deep shade of red and the winters can be snowy which means skiing at the nearby Sibilini Mountains and still more stunning landscapes
The following places are all within an hour's drive or less from the Villa and are certainly worth visiting.
Ryan Air now fly from Stansted and to Ancona Airport which is only 40 minutes from the Villa and from Bristol to Rimini which is les than two hours from the house. Alternatively there is Pescara airport, once again served by Ryan Air The main Bologna airport is served by a large number of airlines from various regional airports. Bologna is about 2 1/2 hours from the Villa. Rome is 3 hours from the villa by car.
If you are driving the A14 / A1 that runs the length of the Adriatic coast of Italy makes any journey down very straight forward. The Villa is some 35 minutes from the Ancona North junction of the A14.
Flights with Ryan Air (even during the summer) can often be found at the incredible price of 1 pence plus taxes.
During winter months there are local ski resorts with a variety of runs- Frontignano, Ussita Sassotetto.
These are about an hour from the house. Last winter a ski pass was less than 20 euro.
The house is a great hideaway in the winter- get away from it all - light a fire and snuggle up. Two people can use the house as an apartment as there is a ground floor bedroom- all on one floor.
