How to get there

Amerigo Vespucci is the airport of Florence and is located a few kilometers from our apartment. There are no direct international flights to Florence, however, the airport covers many European routes and some of them are low cost companies.

The airport is about 5 km from our apartment and is well connected by taxis, shuttles and buses.

Taxi fares from the airport to the center of Florence is about 15 to 20 €.

The Shuttle Bus connects the airport to the train station Santa Maria Novella a rate of 3.00 to 4.00 € per person.

At the airport there are several car rental companies where you can rent a car. Florence airport can be reached from the nearby towns of Prato (8 km), Pistoia (24 km), Montecatini (36 km), Lucca (65 km), Siena (68 km), Arezzo (77 km), Pisa (86 km), Carrara and Massa (117 km), Grosseto (143 km) and from major ports in Tuscany: Livorno (115 km) and Piombino (170 km).

You can get to Florence for your holiday using the airport of Pisa which it is just 70 km (45 minutes by car) from Florence. The ticket for the bus that connects the two cities is about 7 €. The price for a taxi from Pisa to Florence costs around 100 €, but you can also choose to use the train from Pisa airport to Santa Maria Novella station in Florence and then take a taxi to reach the accomodation.

Santa Maria Novella station is the main railway station in Florence and is located in the historic center of Florence not so far from our apartment. Several Eurostar trains come everyday from: Milan, Turin, Venice and Rome.

To this station you can arrive even from Viareggio (and Versilia) and when you arrive you begin immediately to enjoy the old town without taking any bus or taxi.

Rifredi Station is small station in the area of Rifredi. The station is very close to Careggi hospital and the university of Florence and no more then a few miles from the center of town.

Campo di Marte Station is located a few miles from the center and can use for those who want arrive in our Florence apartment by train.

From SMN station you can reach the apartment by taking bus 36, 36A, 37 to the stop "STAZIONE PALAZZO DEI CONGRESSI" (across Piazza Stazione) and get off at "SAURO".

To reach the SMN station you can take bus 6A or 6B in front of the apartment and get off at "STAZIONE LARGO ALINARI".

From Milan, the best way is the highway A1 Bologna-Firenze, exit Firenze Nord, then follow the signs to the center of Florence.

From Genoa or France, take the highway A12 to Viareggio and then follow the A11 to Firenze, exit Firenze Nord. Continue through the center of Florence.

From Rome, take the highway A1 Rome-Milan exit Firenze Sud, follow the directions for the center and you arrive in our apartment.

You can reach our apartment by car, but in Florence more roads are passable only on foot.

The ZTL (limited traffic zone) and pedestrian areas are found in almost all districts of the city center including San Frediano (in this way during your holiday you will not need your car).

To download the suitcases from the car there are two good alternatives:

- in the Cestello square (behind the apartment, about 30 meters) there is a parking fee

- in the piazza de' Nerli you can leave your car, but only for the unloading of baggages

In Florence there aren't free parking.

We suggest this parking garage:

Garage Peugeot

Piazza del Tiratoio, 3/R

50124 Firenze

Outside the city of Florence there are some free parking.

I can suggest "Ponte a Greve": a free parking located just off the A1 Firenze-Signa and Florence-Pisa-Livorno. At few step there is the Tramway Stop and in about 15 minutes you can reach the S.M.N. train station.
