There are numerous scheduled and charter international flights directly or transit through Athens with regular domestic flights to the airports of Chania or Heraklion. These are quite frequent and run by a lot of companies. There is a regular ferry service from the port of Piraeus to Heraklion and Chania. Ships depart every day. The ships are quite modern, cheaper than flying and quite comfortable. Avoid weekends and especially the beginning and end of holidays.
