How to get there
The easiest way to explore the Lake District is by car, so we would recommend driving. Windermere train station is located 1.5 miles away at the top of Windermere.

Getting around
From central Bowness you can hop on one of the famous Windermere Lake cruise boats and take an evening cruise to Lakeside or Ambleside. Self-drive and rowing boats are also available to hire from Bowness Bay or, for those not too keen on water, take a bus and explore what the rest of the Lake District has to offer.
