How to get there
The most convenient way to reach the house from Heraklio Airport (HER) or Chania Airport (CHQ) is by using the public bus service. A bus trip from either airport takes roughly 90 minutes. A bus ticket costs about €8 per person, one way. The central bus station of Rethymno (KTEL Rethymno) is just a 10-minute walk from the house.
If you plan on renting a car upon landing, you may find free (subject to availability) and paid parking options in the surrounding area.
You can also take a taxi from either airport to the house – the ride would take about 1 hour. Tell the driver to drop you off outside Fortezza Hotel as it's the closest stop to the property.
There is a web service called ‘Hoppa’ through which you can book an airport shuttle bus operated by private tour companies. Choose Fortezza Hotel in Rethymno as your dropoff point.

Getting around
You will be staying in a very central location near the beach, making it easy to get around anywhere on foot. If you wish to visit Chania or Heraklio, a regular bus service is available. Buses in Crete are airconditioned and some even have WiFi. It is also possible to rent a car and park in the surrounding area for free (subject to availability) or for a fee, in a secure parking lot.
