I live 2.3 miles from the Metro Bay Area Park and Ride, which runs almost all weekdays (e.g., banking holidays are excluded) but NOT on weekends. The buses are very nice. There is a Downtown Houston stop within a couple of blocks of the light rail system. There is a bus that goes from near the I-45 and FM-528 intersection down to Galveston. You can come close to the stop via the Metro route 249, which also stops at Bay Area Park and Ride. Houston is very large. Hobby Airport (HOU) is much closer than Bush International Airport (IAH).
