Description

The Hummingbird is a 35 m² studio for 2 people, with easy access to the pool. It is situated in the Pura Vida Valley only a few hundred meters from the main road between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Located on the side of a hill surrounded by peaceful jungle, guests are able to easily discover the wildlife and luxurious flora of Costa Rica.

The studio has a Queen size bed, kitchen (well-equiped : oven, microwave, gas cooker), a full bathroom, and a terrace with a view of the jungle. For your convenience, the apartment includes Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a washer/dryer.

Just outside the entrance to the Pura Vida Valley, is a bus stop where for less than $0.50 a bus will take you to the center of Manual Antonio, gay/gay friendly restaurants and night life, to the town of Quepos, or to the beach. (all within 15 minutes).

Many taxis are also available for the average price of $5. Less than 3 km away, is a full gym where you will receive a friendly welcome.

Please note that Quepos/Manuel Antonio is a very popular tourist destination with many bars and lively restaurants along the main road, creating an energetic evening atmosphere. After enjoying our great bars and restaurants, many visitors appreciate that our accommodations are a little removed from the nightlife on the main road. The Villa Mar y Sol guarantees you calm and serenity day and night during your stay.

Getting Around

After your booking you will receive detailed instructions on how to get to La Villa Mar y Sol and your apartment.

If you wish to rent a vehicle, we would recommend renting from Adobe Rent a Car. We recommend this company due to their professional service, and the good experience most of our guests have had dealing with them. Adobe Rent a Car also offers special pricing for our guests! House Rules

Electricity: Power outages (normally of short duration) are common in Costa Rica. We cannot control this, and no refunds can be given should they occur.

Internet: Wireless internet is provided in the villa. Be aware we do loose internet service frequently, and no refunds will be given for loss of this service.

Insects and wildlife: No refunds will be given for reasons of guests discomfort with insects or wildlife of any kind.

The Hummingbird is in a gorgeous setting and was a great place to relax at the end of the day. The pool is heaven and we often had it all to ourselves. The apartment was very clean and comfortable, and the hosts, David and Rene were extremely kind and helpful with a true concern for the comfort of their guests. I would definitely return.

First of all, the location of this apartment is wonderful, far up a hill in the middle of the Manuel Antonio rain forest - its rare that you can have such a location for this price. This comes with consequence: either one has a SUV like car - or likes and is able to hike through the steep road leading up to the apartment. We stayed there for 12 days for a Spanish language course, and we had no car. Walking down 10 minutes to the bus stop in the early morning was wonderful. Well, we also decided to walk up 15-20 minutes in the afternoon (depending on the temperature) was a sportive event for us. We always knew what is going to expect us, the view and the pool. The owners did everything to support us. The apartment is very new, clean and spacious - albeit the sitting arrangement is not very comfortable. But again: the view from the balcony or from the infinity pool: just great. And our proposal to the owners. why not install a binocular for observation of the colourful macaws which have their home at the oposite hill? Maybe you can find a reasonably priced one? (guests: in the meantime bring your own binocular - you will enjoy it). Merci beaucoup!

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

How do I edit my booking?

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send David (the owner) a message.

If David (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
