This modern and comfortable townhouse is situated in Praia da Lota, close to the village of Manta Rota. The main entrance to the house is reached by steps and leads to the main living areas which are open plan and bright and airy. Lounge patio windows lead directly to the outside dining patio, terraces and pool. This level comprises kitchen, dining area and lounge, separate WC.

The lower basement level has been converted to accommodate a single bedroom and a double bedroom with a shared bathroom.

The first floor has a large double master bedroom and a further single bedroom - both with en suite bathrooms.

The house design is comfortable and has more than enough space for a large family or 2 smaller families wishing to holiday together.

Further details outdoors

To the outside of the property there is sufficient space for parking inside the grounds with a locking gate. The pool size is 11m x 5m and is surrounded by large terraces - perfect for sun worshippers to soak up the sun for the whole day - or for children to play to their hearts content!

At the rear of the house are steps leading to the lounge with a large shaded patio area, perfect for relaxing and taking time out of the sun! Also a must is 'al fresco' patio dining and a traditional brick BBQ has been provided for your enjoyment.

As a townhouse, Casa Cassiopeia has the added advantage of being at the end of the housing row and therefore has a generous outside space

Changeover days are flexible. Normal check in time is 4pm and checkout 10am. These times will only be applied if absolutely necessary and we will accommodate arrival and departure as fully as possible. Management Company available throughout stay for assistance if required.

The Algarve region

With its stunning coastline, excellent golf courses and pleasant year round climate, the Algarve's 200 kilometre stretch of southern shoreline has become one of Europe's most popular holiday destinations. Bordered on two sides by the Atlantic Ocean, the Algarve is divided from the rest of Portugal by a series of low lying mountains. In the east, the Guadiana River forms a scenic border with neighbouring Spain.

There is a clear definition between the Western Algarve and the East. Whilst the West shows more development towards tourism, the Eastern Algarve and its tidal marshlands still have a tranquil beauty, and the small resorts along the coast have retained much of their character, looking today as they must have looked long ago. Here, tourism blends in perfectly with local activities creating a relaxed way of life. There is a tinge of excitement and even romance about the ferry boat trips to the beach islands, where visitors are rewarded with superb, less crowded bathing beaches and warm waters.

The sea water temperature is around 14c in January and reaches a high 22c in August. A pleasant sea breeze refreshes the temperatures of the region, which are around 15c in January and up to 28c or more in July and August. The Algarve can also count on around 3.000 hours of Sun during the year which makes it a favourite destination for those who fancy such a sunny climate. The autumn and winter months are mild, but you will need a jacket in the evening and some kind of heating in your apartment or hotel room. January is the coolest month of the year.

Manta Rota

Manta Rota is a small and charming beach village which is popular all year round. The village is not large but does have a good choice of amenities. Within a short walk, there are a good choice of restaurants including typical Portuguese, French and even English! In fact, Manta Rota has no shortage of places to eat! There is also a good selection of cafe bars with reasonable prices. In the village you will find a mini market, bakery, butchers newsagent and hardware store. You can also visit the daily vegetable and fish market in nearby Vila Nova de Cacela which is around 3 minutes drive away


There is an abundance of excellent clean beaches close by. Whilst the small beach of Praia do Lota is very close by, our best recommendation is Manta Rota reached within 15 minutes on foot and here you will find golden sands, rolling sea, sunbeds for hire and a selection of beautiful beach side restaurants - as well as plenty of walking space! In high season. the large central square adjacent to the beach holds live events including music concerts, market stalls and beach parties. In addition, the Manta Rota Beach Club hosts a large and unusual venue in the shape of golf ball which has dancing and music inside with world famous DJs and live acts! - Great fun for the younger generation who seek a little night life!


When staying in this accommodation a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquillity. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.


…….by travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do to suit all tastes. For nature lovers there are forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or natures trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! By travelling towards the West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine (wonderful for children), all easily reached by car (around 45 minutes) or by day trip coach. From this property it is easy to take a day trip to Spain. The lovely border town of Ayamonte is not far by car, and once there you can sample the delights of another country, including wine, tapas and excellent shopping. Or you can travel by car, local bus or train to Vila Real de Santo Antonio and from there take the 15 minute ferry crossing to Ayamonte. For the more adventurous the vibrant city of Seville is approx 170km away. For budding historians the Castle at Castro Marim is worth a look.


This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just on the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this property. (Flights not included)

"Lovely house, lovely pool, pleasant and helpful service all round"

We loved this house, it was immaculate and everyone at Smartavillas was fantastic to deal with from beginning to end. The pool was beautiful and lovely without chlorine! The only disadvantage was very local shops had closed, probably due to recession, so car definitely needed. We'd love to go again and again.....! Probably not so great for older families or families wanting lots of activity, we loved how low key it was in Manta Rota.
