A great cafe serving delicious coffee, breakfast, lunch and icecream is a three minute walk via a pedestrian bridge across a cascading stream. Opposite it is North Harbour Reserve, with a popular children's play area. The cottage is suitable for couples, families and friends traveling together who apreciate a nice relaxing enviroment that offers a more personal and cost effective alternative to a hotel with more conviences. It is ideal for short and medium term stays and is family friendly. No Smoking or PetsWe live next door and are on call to answer any of your questions and help make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The Cottage is cleaned and serviced weekly during your stay including fresh linen/towels/beach towels. We offer a special rate for stays of a week or more. If you're travelling with young children, a travel cot, high chair and selection of toys can be provided if needed. You will also find a range of books for all ages: A free Manly Council operated shuttle bus (to Manly ferry wharf and local shopping destinations) runs past the end of the street (100m). Normal buses also operate along this route including peak hour services to the Sydney CBD. The closest supermarket, along with a selection of over 20 restaurants is 10 minutes walk away. The Ranger's Cottage is so-named because it was originally inhabited by the local forest ranger over 100 years ago. Because we are so close to the bush we do enjoy a wide variety of bird life in the garden so don't be surprised if you find your self being observed by the inquisitive Kookaburras or chatty Rainbow Lorikeets. On your way to the beach or café you may also spot Pelicans and other sea birds or shy lizards sunning themselves on the rocks. If you're looking for stylish, comfortable self-contained accommodation in an enchanted corner of Sydney Harbour, you've found it. With the added benefit of friendly local hosts who are happy to help but also happy to leave you to your own devices if you prefer. So far our first guest's have given us the following feedback: "It's a very quiet and peaceful location" "The beds are very comfortable and we love the bedding" "We've found everything we need in the cottage" We stayed in the cottage for four nights with our two kids, aged 3 and 5. It was perfect for us in every way! We fell in love with the cottage instantly. Everything is brandnew and Felicity has done a great job creating a space that feels cozy, modern and like a real home. The location was the best surprise: on a map you might get the impression that it is far out. However, the cottage is right on the Manly to Spit Walkway and the walk to Manly Wharf could not be nicer. Our kids never wanted to take the bus! We wanted to explore Sydney and found the cottage to be the perfect hub. You either take the ferry or a direct bus to the city. Back 'home' you enjoy the numerous beaches, the quiet, the peace. Last but not least Felicity, David and their two boys were great - one could not wish for better hosts. Our girls would suddenly vanish and we would find them somewhere in their spacious garden. If our daughters could write they would probably also mention the toys, the storybooks and their comfy beds. My husband was very happy with the walk-in shower. I couldn't help but be grateful for the washing machine. I would have loved to read some of the interesting books on the bookshelf but there was just not enough time. We highly recommend the Ranger's Cottage and if we ever make it back to Manly will return for sure!

“Fabulous stay in beautiful cottage”

Reviewed 27 Feb 2016

This is the second time we stayed at the Rangers Cottage and it was as amazing and restful as the last time. Felicity is a wonderful and accommodating host, making us feel welcome and at home. The fridge is full of goodies, the only complaint I have is that her home baked brownies are sooo good that i am certain I gained a couple of kilos. Thanks so much, Felicity and family.....we will be back!

Thank you Ana for your kind words. Always lovely to have you come back and stay. So glad you enjoyed the brownies.. I think there are still a few here for next time! I look forward to seeing you again. Felicity

“Back to Sydney weekend - what better place to stay?”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2015

Lobbed into the cottage early on Friday afternoon for a long weekend with my wife and 6 year old son. Having lived in Manly, Sydney for many years, I thought this would be the same old, same old. But not so. I used to run past this cottage for years when I went for my daily run and never noticed it. It's easy to miss, but certainly a pleasure to stay. The location of the cottage and its layout, are tremendous. Enough room for three, close to the cafe around the corner (which opens after 7am...no good if you are an early riser - but there are alternatives), beach down the hill, park near the cafe, walk to Manly ferry is 20 mins (about 17 mins in the rain) and the bush walk around Dobroyd Point is right there. For me, it is perfect. Inside the cottage, everything was made available. This is the first time I have stayed somewhere where simple things like salt, pepper, oil, alfoil, etc. are available and I don't have to go out and buy it all, only to ditch it/eat it in the last remaining minutes of the weekend. This, in itself, is a great advantage. Everything else there was great. It has a heater, comfy sofa bed, quiet bedroom, clean bathroom, functional kitchen, wifi, and nice outdoor setting (even though it rained most of the time). I will stay again, and would recommend it to my friends (the better ones that is...I would like to spare the cottage from their party instincts and nocturnal activities). Great spot, quiet and clean. Hard to find this combination in the modern era. Thanks.

Thank you Jason for your kind words. We are so pleased you enjoyed your time here back in Manly and found all that you needed during your stay here. We look forward to seeing you another time.

“Perfection!”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2015

Beautiful property, cottage is private, immaculate, very nicely furnished, it's comfy & the kitchen is well supplied with all the necessities. Fabulous location near the Manly Scenic Walkway, which is a must-do if you like to walk. Half-hour walk to Manly with gorgeous scenery, 15 minutes to the Balgowlah shops where there is some dining & take-away. Owner is absolutely delightful. There is nothing that needs improvement - it is the ultimate charming little cottage.

“A Perfect Retreat”

Reviewed 4 Mar 2015

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Rangers Cottage. The facilities were first class with lots of little extras. The location is quiet and private just a short walk from Forty Baskets beach with easy access to Manly and the ferry into the city. Felicity is a great host ensuring you have everything you need. Thoroughly recommended. We look forward to returning.

“Felicity is a wonderful host and the cottage is a home away from home.”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2013

From the initial booking of the accommodation over the phone Felicity was very friendly and welcoming and was happy to provide information about the cottage and arrangements in picking up the key. On arrival Felicity was warm and welcoming and was generous filling the fridge and pantry with a yummy selection of groceries for our stay. The Cottage was renovated and felt cosy and comfortable. With good quality bed linen on all the beds. The location of the cottage is in one of the best areas of Sydney, scenic walks on the Harbor and in close proximity to great cafes and Restaurants. My family and I will definately return!

“Ideal long stay holiday accommodation”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2013

One of, if not the best, holiday accommodation I have stayed at. Home comforts, very accessible by public transport and easy walk to Manly. Personal touches from books and toys, to the welcome breakfast hamper and wi-fi, and Felicity's bubbly personality made 7 days very enjoyable. I would readily stay there for a much longer duration.

“Hidden gem, cozy place with friendly host”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2013

The Rangers is situated in upper class residential area, well equipped with Scandinavian furniture and kitchenwares. Lots of books for reading. Beautiful environment - you wake up everyday in songs of birds. Perfect for those prefer serenity. Could be perfect if add a clothes dryer, the weather was not dry enough for our laundry during the stay. It's also recommended to install an kitchen ventilator. Though we did not cook a storm, the smell stayed there for long. The host is living right next door, so help is always there. But frankly you don't need that. Everything has been thoughtfully prepared.

“Fantastic cottage with everything we needed and more!”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2013

My parents booked this little cottage to stay in when they visited us here in Sydney. And we were blown away by how comfy, clean and well equipped this place is. Felicity is a wonderful host: friendly, helpful and her brownies.... !The one bedroom is large, the bathroom was so clean that my Mum had nothing to complain about (my family are a bit fussy about cleanliness and the whole cottage passed with flying colours) and the couch in the lounge is the best couch we have ever slept on. Pretty little bays are in walking distance and the walk to Manly is really lovely. Theres also a cafe nearby too with great coffee. Its a nice location to be accessible but hidden away at the same time. We have already recommended this cottage to all of our friends. No matter if you're visiting Sydney for business or pleasure, Felicity's cottage is the perfect place to settle in, get comfy and really enjoy yourself.

“beautiful, quiet and still so close to Manly”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2013

What a wonderful place to stay! Modern, clean and very quiet. We loved the fantastic breakfast in the courtyard, so quiet and beautiful. An amazing walk takes you past a yummy cafe straight to the heart of Manly and to the ferries. Felicity goes out of her way to take care of you, everything is provided with love: the space, furniture, food and local information. Felicity is helpful and warm without being intrusive. Just a great stay, highly recommended and we will certainly be back!

Anna Thank you for your kind words - we look forward to seeing you again! All the best Felicity

“Just Fantastic”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2013

This being our first visit to Australia - What more could you ask for? Rangers Cottage is like a home away from home being well appointed with all mod cons. Lovely location with a gorgeous walk from your door step into Manly. The hosts Felicity and David are great people who are more than willing to help make your stay even better. We would certainly recommend this Cottage and would definitely stay here again. As far as we are concerned Rangers Cottage is quality and value for money. The weather was also very good. Keep up the good work, Flick.
