Christine and Bernard Bijaoui bought La Boissière, a typical Provencal farm, in 2002. They renovated the farm, creating 3 gîtes of which Figuier is 2nd largest. In 2003 they planted 1800 olive trees and now produce the best olive oïl in the area. With dramatic views of Mont Ventoux and surrounding mountains, set in 12 hectares of cherry and olive trees, this is the perfect place for a holiday in Vaucluse, Provence. Situated in the Rhône Valley. Only 2 km from the small town of Malaucène which has shops, supermarket, chemist, restaurants, doctors - in fact everything you might need - even a superb new Spa with gym, sauna, steam room and massage.
The gîte has a fully equipped kitchen, outside terrace, barbecue. Swimming pool (15m x 8m)
The area is famous for its cycling routes, walks and of course - wine! The scores of nearby vineyards of the Gigondas, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Beaumes de Venise all welcome visitors for wine tasting.
The Dentelles de Montmirail are close by for walking and rock-climbing.
The weekly Provencal Markets are famous and our gîte is close to 4 of the best: Carpentras, Vaison, Bedoin and of course Malaucene.
The historic city of Avignon is 40km, Vaison la Romaine is 8km and Orange 40km. Marseille airport is 120km and takes less than 1.5 hrs by car.

"Provence Paradise! Incredible views, amazing pool – totally relaxing holiday!"
I rented all three of the gîtes at La Boissiere together for an annual group holiday of family & friends in June 2015. La Boissiere was suggested to me by another gîte owner who didn’t have the space to accommodate our big group – and I’m delighted she did as La Boissiere was absolutely perfect and we’ve had the most fantastic week staying there! Our group included couples, kids, babies and adult singletons so the sleeping options in the three gîtes allowed us to be really flexible – the Oliviers gite has an extra bed/sleeping space on the Mezzanine floor in addition to the bedrooms and Figuiers gite has the same under the stairs which was really useful when we had other friends dropping by to join the group for just a couple of nights. The location is great, easy to get to from Marseille (hour and a half), completely secluded and rural and high up in the hills with incredible views across the valley, but just a five min drive from the nearest village, Malaucene, and all the amenities we needed. Malaucene is just we wanted from a provincial French village, very quaint and pretty, couple of boulengerie, some nice bars and restaurants (we had a couple of good pizza nights en-mass in Chez Max), market day, supermarket etc. There’s a nice little walk up to a look out point above the old church where you have great views of the village and the Mont Ventoux. Our visiting friends are serious cyclists and told us that this is also the ideal base for touring around the Mont Ventoux. The gites are nicely decorated in a simple modern style, well proportioned and thankfully plenty of toilets and bathrooms (very important with a pregnant lady and lots of kids around!). Oliviers, where I was staying, has 1 family bathroom with WC plus 2 other shower rooms and separate WCs and I think Figuier had 2 bathrooms with shower and WC and Lavande had 2 WC and a shower room. Each of the gites has their own outside terrace area, which was ideal as it meant each family could peel off, relax and enjoy some privacy as and when it suited them. I loved sitting on mine in the morning and having a coffee looking out across the valley. The outside space at La Boissiere is great, beautiful walks around the olive groves and lots of places to relax (adults) and play (kids). The pool and surrounding area is amazing! Lots of sun loungers, hammocks, big secluded lawn area with picnic seats etc. and all with views out across the mountains. It really feels like paradise! Bernard the owner was so friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful. He gave us some great recommendations of places to visit, local vineyards and even gave some of our group a special tour of the olive fields and told us all about how he makes his fantastic olive oil (we left with quite a few bottles in the suitcase). Overall a great holiday in every way. My wife and I have already booked Lavande for a return visit for just the two of us in autumn. Highlights – The breathtaking panoramic views on all sides! The amazing pool.
