Location description from owner

The Andalucia region

Malaga enjoys a subtropical climate. It has one of the warmest winters in Europe, with average temperatures of 17 °C (63 °F) during the day and 8 °C (46 °F) at night in the period from December to February. The summer's season lasts about 8 months, from April to November, although also in remaining 4 months temperatures sometimes reach around 20 °C (68 °F).

Malaga's history spans about 2,700 years and is one of the oldest cities in the world. The archaeological remains and monuments from the Phoenician, Roman, Arabian and Christian eras convert the historic centre into an "Open Museum" displaying its rich history of more than 3,000 years.

This important cultural infrastructure and the rich artistic heritage have culminated in the nomination of Malaga as a candidate for the 2016 European Capital of Culture. The internationally acclaimed painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso was both born in Malaga.

Malaga

Las Golondrinas is perfectly situated to offer easy access to the rich bustling culture of Malaga City, including:

• Pablo Picasso Museum - situated close to the site of Picasso's birthplace, featuring many great works by the artist.

• La Malagueta - the Malaga Bull Ring and associated museum.

• La Alcazaba - an immense 11th century Moorish military fortress built on the remains of a Roman fortress.

• Kelipe Centro de Arte Flamenco - intimate show of traditional Flamenco by husband and wife.

• La Concepcion - the historic botanical gardens of Malaga.

• The Centre Pompidou Malaga - Pompidou in Paris the Malaga collection will be housed in the large glass cube, built with a cultural purpose in mind, located in the newly renovated Port of Malaga.

• Feria de Malaga - Malaga's 9 day festival at the start of August. It begins with a great firework display at midnight on Friday, and from then on the city is filled with music and dancing, fun fairs and nightly concerts..

“AMAZING!!”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2015

Had a fantastic week at this beautiful house. The views of the mountains are stunning and the house is everything you could wish for. We were a family of 10 but the house could accommodate more and with everything in the house you didn't have to go far at all. The local restaurants offer everything you need and Malaga is only a 30 min drive from the house. The owners Ian & Sally are a fantastic couple and have now become great friends. They ate with us and also cooked for us and were so warm and welcoming. Their extended family of animals are the best and we miss the dogs so much. We even had goats cheese from the Paco the local goat herder! Will definitely be returning to this wonderful haven of tranquility!!

Thank you for your lovely review. We so enjoyed having you and your fantastic family stay with us. Or should I say thank you for letting us stay with you. We felt like we were on our holidays. I have some great things planned for your return and most of it involves food, ha ha. Hoping to have the Argentinian bbq finished before your return. We will have to walk it off with the dogs after, but a small sacrifice. Thanks again

“wonderful holiday”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2014

The house is lovely, comfortable and clean. There was all what we needed, including a very romantic view! You can enjoy day-trips in the region because the place is near Malaga, otherwise you can spend your time walking in the surrounding area, swimming in the pool or relaxing in the "mexican" court-yard, where you can cook on the grill. Ian and Sally are very nice people and, if you like, they make delicious traditional food with natural products. My favorite was the milk goat. I even learned to milk the goats! Belive me, the cheese tasted best!!

Thank you lt was fantastic having you and the chocolate for Sally and the wine for me was lovely of you. Hope to see you again. Ciao so passionate you Italians. Estupendo

“Perfect getaway”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2014

My wife and I came across this rental and choose to book because of the great reviews and we are happy we did. The location provided a romantic getaway with stunning views and some much needed rest and relaxation. Watching the sunset from the pool after a nice meal with some wonderful cheese the host made and provided was our highlight of our overseas trip. We can't wait to go back to this slice of paradise.

“Ian and Sally really know how to cook!”

This rural house is just 20 minutes outside of Málaga. It has a view of Málaga city and harbor that is stunning. The beds are good, There is a wood stove that is really enjoyable. One of our highlights of the weekend there was playing hodge-podge in front of a fire place. Our days had lots of rain, so the wood fire was important. The owners, Ian and Sally, are delightful. They agreed to cook two lunches and an English breakfast for us. The food was marvelous. As a group, we had lots of fun and got a lot of work done.

“Very nice!”
