Makrigialos is a beautiful, quiet town with an array of atmospheric restaurants along the sandy beach and around the delightful harbour.

Whether you want to walk, swim, relax, cycle, sight see, rock climb, Makrigialos is the place for you and our apartment the perfect place to stay.

A car is pretty much a must. The complex is 120k from Heraklion and although public transport is available I wouldn't recommend it. Plus, the surrounding scenery is under no circumstances allowed to be missed! The rocky mountain drives and breathtaking views are all around, dotted with little villages that take you back to a gone by era. The area is mainly limestone with stunning weathered outcrops covered in colourful plants covering 50% of the landscape and the other half given mainly to olives, it is truly stunning.

Bayview Resort Crete is registered under number 1040K123K3018001 at the Greek National Organisation of Tourism.

The Lasithi Prefecture region

Crete is the largest and most southern of all the Greek islands and is noted for its beauty and dramatic landscape. There is so much history to be found here dating back to about 2500 BC.

Makry-Gialos

On the quiet south east coast lies the small but beautiful village of Makrigialos meaning long beach. Surrounded by mountains the blue-flag beach offers wonderful swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing with parasols and sunbeds available all year round. Makrigialos is the perfect destination for a family holiday or for couples. In the evening the harbour comes alive and restaurants and a few bars open for a sedate but interesting nightlife. There are markets in the main towns of Sitia (30 mins), and Ierapetra (30 mins) every week and both these historical towns offer wonderful shopping facilities and amenities. Archaeological sites, caves, beaches, coves, monastaries and other amazing places are all situated within a short drive form Makrigialos making it the perfect base.

“The perfect place for such a perfect location”

Reviewed 7 Aug 2013

Our first visit to Crete at Bayview Apartments Makry-Gialos couldn't have gone better. The apartments had everything we needed and more. Makry-Gialos is a truly unspoilt location. The people are very friendly and accomodating and make you feel very welcome. The apartment couldn't of been better it was a little out from the main town which made it perfectly situated for the best of both worlds. The apartment was furnished to a high standard and felt cosy and homely. We would love to return as we loved the location and apartment. I have recommended this apartment to friends and family. Thank you very much.
