Enjoy a relaxing, calming break at Y Daflod - a peaceful countryside retreat for couples. This self catering Machynlleth cottage offers cosy upstairs living with a woodburner and a large balcony with panoramic views. With no road to be seen, this is the perfect place to sit back and absorb the tranquil atmosphere amongst the Mid Wales mountains.

Ground Floor...

This lovely converted barn offers a large ensuite bedroom with a king size bed on the ground floor. With a Laura Ashley mattress, mirror and curtains you can expect style and comfort at this self catering Machynlleth cottage. Three windows - two of which frame the panoramic view of the valley below.

En suite shower room with power shower, w.c. and heated towel rails.

Separate, stylish bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and heated towel rails.

Large six foot long dinner table, next to a modern kitchen with dishwasher, cooker grill and fridge (with small freezer compartment), microwave etc included.

Outside...

Large balcony to make the most of the views – the perfect place to enjoy the sun rise over breakfast and alfresco dining in the evenings. Accessed from sitting room on first floor.

The Wales region

Tastefully converted barn, located on a 500 acres working hill farm. Positioned to make the most of the views, Y Daflod overlooks the hidden valley below, with the mountains of Snowdonia National Park adding to the enchanting scenes along the horizon. The mountain of Esgair Llyn nature reserve (made famous by the well-known welsh folk singer Dafydd Iwan) with its deep purple colours, also stands tall, nearby.

Y Daflod cottage is set in a truly tranquil, unique location with not even another farm in sight. The large balcony offers the perfect setting to enjoy the views as well as some stunning sun rises and sun sets. You can also enjoy the song of the birds and the gliding red kite hovering above.

Just 6 miles from Machynlleth - a beautiful market town which is also the Ancient Capital of Wales. Machynlleth offers lovely little cafes, plenty of unique shops, two supermarkets and a number of good restaurants. Some of the recommended restaurants include Number 21 and Wynnstay in Machynlleth, Black Lion in Derwenlas (8 miles) and Glanyrafon in Pennal (10 miles). You will also find all the amenities you need in Machynlleth including banks, garages and a number of takeaways and pubs (including the Wynnstay and White Lion).

Some of the main attractions from this cottage include the sandy beaches at Aberdyfi and Ynys Las (at opposite ends of the Dyfi estuary), Talyllyn Railway and the RSPB Reserve and Ospreys Project at Ynyshir. You also have the glorious mountains of Snowdonia to explore and attractions such as the Centre for Alternative Technology, King Arthur's Labyrinth and Corris Mines.

Walking...

Lovely local footpath that can be accessed from the cottage. 0 miles
Glyndwr's Way - a long distance footpath in Mid Wales that was granted National Trail status in the year 2000. Join the path less than 1 mile from cottage.
Dyfi Valley Way follows the River Dyfi from the estuary in Aberdyfi to the source at the summit of Aran Fawddwy and back down along the south side of the river via Machynlleth and down to Borth. Join the path in Machynlleth, 6 miles.
Cadair Idris (mountain) – 3 main routes starting from Minffordd (16 miles), Abergynolwyn (19 miles) and Dolgellau (24 miles).

Cycling...

Sustrans Way – the Machynlleth to Caersws section can be joined on the Machynlleth - Llanidloes mountain road, less than 2 miles from the cottage.
Dyfi Mountain Biking –All routes start from Machynlleth. 6 miles
The Mawddach Trail – Suitable for all ages. Perfect for cycling, walking and for wheelchair users. Dolgellau (24 miles) to Barmouth.
Coed-y-Brenin Mountain Biking Centre – Suitable routes for all ages. 30 miles

Fishing...

River Dyfi offers excellent fishing and is famous for its brown trout, salmon and sea trout. 6 miles

Clywedog Sailing Club - 6 mile lake, open to all types of non powered watercraft from canoes and sailboards to dinghies, cruisers and keelboats. 10 miles.
