The Marina Beach Complex is easy to find being set just off the main coast road between Ceuta and the historic city of Tetouan. Marina Beach is now well established in this sought after area being just along the road from the King's summer palace. It is genuinely considered to be the most prestigious complex in the Tamuda bay area nestling on the med and located between two marinas within the so called "golden mile".
The complex is totally private and secure being guarded 24 hours a day so if you have a car, parking is secure and under cover each apartment having its own parking space.
At the front of the complex is a small row of shops including two supermarkets, a pizzeria with free wifi and a snack bar.
Our apartment is on the ground floor so no stairs to climb and located in a quiet corner overlooking the nearest pool. (There are three pools to choose from all having a children's area !)
The complex is a short walk to the luxurious Marina Smir with its range of restaurants and cafes. Close-by is Smir water park and outdoor go-kart track.
The entrance to the apartment leads into the hall area. To the left is the lounge with patio door leading onto the patio. Ahead is a passage with the other rooms leading off. On one side is a shower room and kitchen with a small outside area for drying laundry. On the other side is one twin and one double bedroom, both bedrooms having a view of the pool.
Outside the gardens are beautifully maintained and the private entrance to the beach is only a two minute stroll through the gardens down a gentle slope or easy steps. In the gardens you will find the 5-a side football pitch.

The Tangier-Tetouan Region
The Rif Mountain/Tangier Region
This beautiful and scenic region at the northern tip of morocco has everything for the adventurous tourist. This is where Europe Meets Africa and the culture reflects this. This area is very unlike the hectic and noisy places of Morocco like Marrakech. You won't get hassled here. The people are friendly, the food is amazing and the scenery is breath-taking. The region sits between the lush and green Rif Mountains with its lakes, rivers and forests and the golden beaches of the sparkling blue Mediterranean Sea. The Spanish enclave of Ceuta has many modern shops and boutiques for tax- free shopping together with many cultural attractions, cafes, restaurants and a brand new hospital. Because of its proximity to Spain, local Moroccans are used to European tourists and their needs. A mixture of French and Spanish is spoken but also a surprising amount of English too. But make no mistake, this is no Costa Del Sol. This is a very popular tourist destination for Europeans and Moroccans but the King has introduced stringent planning regulations. You won't find any high rise buildings here, and neither will you find fish and chip shops on the beach. You will find fish however freshly caught the same day and a variety of foods unlike any other.
Morocco is a Muslim country but is a modern and open society. The King is loved by his people. He has done so much to raise living standards for his people, improving access to education and rights for women. Alcohol is available in restaurants and bars in the tourist areas and can be bought from the supermarkets. There is virtually no crime here. You genuinely feel welcomed and safe. I remember once when we first started to visit Morocco, My wife and I were walking along a street at night and a group of youths were walking towards us. We both felt a little nervous as we would do in the UK but I can tell you that all of them either nodded and smiled at us or said a polite “bonsoir”, “hola” or hello ! We fell in love with this area of Morocco years ago and its magic and charms keep bringing us back. We hope that you will fall under its spell too !
Tamuda Bay is located on the Mediterranean side of the Northern tip of Morocco which is opposite Gibralta.
The area is famed for its beach life and water sports with its huge golden, sandy beaches. It is a favourite holiday destination for Moroccan high society and indeed the King himself has a Palace literally just along the road from our complex! The King loves this area and comes to Tetouan every year to celebrate his coronation and to spend the summer at his Palace. He also enjoys touring the area in his sports car and meeting the local people and often makes short visits at various times of the year.
This area boasts the “golden mile” of beaches between M'Diq and Fnideq. Our complex is right in the middle of this area and literally right on its own part of the beach.
Not far away in the high season, a waterpark is now an additional fun place to go if you have children.
Marina Beach is next to the fashionable Marina Smir. This marina caters for the international yachting set and has large and luxurious yachts permanently moored there. Treat yourself to a meal, snack or drink at the fashionable Relais De Paris restaurant or one of the many other restaurants and cafes.
Just a little further along the road is the smaller and quieter Kabila Marina which has smaller boats and pleasure craft and a pretty little beach and cheaper restaurants.
M'Diq is the nearest town. M'Diq or Rincon as it is often called is a fishing port which has transformed itself into a vibrant tourist destination with its promenade, shops, market restaurants, cafes and bars. Café Olas is one of our favourite places to have coffee or a meal sitting under an umbrella and relaxing looking out over the Med. Why not watch the fisherman hauling in the catch by hand onto the beach or visit the lively street markets as dusk falls. In the evening, M'Diq is vibrant with life and light. Like the Italians, Moroccans like to walk with the whole family in the evenings and socialise. When the King visits, the whole place is lit up and decorated like its Christmas and in the high season there is free beachside music and dancing.
Tetouan is the nearest city. It is a modern and bustling city of over half a million residents. In the old part of Tetouan you will easily find the Medina which is an old walled town. Any trip to this area requires a visit to the Tetouan Medina which is a world heritage site. Enter here and it is like stepping back in time. Tiny narrow streets with a myriad of shops, and souks selling all manner of goods including gold, leather, glass and ceramics where you can haggle to your heart's content and grab a bargain, have a drink or meal in one of the stunning Riads.
Not far from Marina Beach is Cabo Negro which features a beautiful golf course which is cheap by European standards and has spectacular views of the mountains and local beaches. On the other side of Cabo Negro is the town of Martil, famous for its 5km promenade and beaches. Martil is busy in the summer with its beach festival and fairground but lovely in the Spring and Autumn when it is still warm. Here you can find many shops and cafes and some outstanding fish restaurants.
