Location description from owner

The England region

Lymington is a small pretty coastal town with a long and rich history. It has a great variety of local amenities, restaurants and pubs to please a great mix of tastes... and not so far away, just half an hour by car, are its more vibrant and busy neighbours, Bournemouth and Southampton with many other villages in between, both by the sea and in the forest. Lymington is regarded as one of the prettiest harbours for sailors to visit on the river opposite the Isle of Wight where again, there are many popular anchorages. The woods and forested areas surrounding Lymington and the local villages provide delightful walks. Also, for those who enjoy walking along the river edge, or along the salt flats for bird watching en route to the beaches and seaside at Keyhaven and Milford on Sea; taking a back pack with a picnic – always a great solution for family freedom…

Lymington

The Nuthatch is an easy 450 metre walk from the town, so if you are really keen and the weather is fine, even a pre-breakfast swim is possible at the open-air sea-water swimming pool! There is also an indoor pool at the Lymington Recreation Centre – a few minutes by car. There is the small supermarket at the local service station Somerfields, a ten minute walk, otherwise Waitrose, Tesco and M&S are all five minutes away by car. Lymington has a good selection of restaurants and pubs, a fabulous Saturday market which takes over the High Street, and it is a pleasant evening stroll into town when you can choose between two routes, either along Marsh Lane which runs behind the Nuthatch (the flat route) to the bottom of the High Street, or along to the middle of the High Street via Lower Buckland Road and across to New Street. Half an hour's drive going East and you have 'Harbour Lights' in Southampton for great films and a good shopping centre, or if you go West towards Bournemouth & Poole, beautiful sandy beaches to enjoy the sun…

“Welcoming, comfortable cottage with all we could want”

Reviewed 23 May 2015

Susie and her husband were at the cottage to greet us and to provide the basics for self catering. The cottage was clean, tidy and spacious for the 4 of us adults and a baby. The conservatory was a very pleasant place to sit in the evenings infront of an open log fire and equally comfortable for breakfast in the morning. The little bedroom was short of storage space, but the larger bedroom more than made up for it.

Many thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us. It was a pleasure to meet you all and so pleased you enjoyed your time in Lymington. All the best, Susie
