The Old Masters is a Grade II Victorian property built in 1852 to house the 'Master and Matron' of the Lymington Infirmary. It is set in secluded, landscaped gardens and is less than five minutes walk from the high street of the Georgian market town of Lymington.
Four double bedrooms as follows:
Bed 1= super king bed, adjacent family bathroom
Bed 2 = King bed , ensuite shower room
Bed 3= King bed ( or narrow twin singles if preferred) , share top floor wetrooom
Bed 4= Super king bed ( or standard Twin singles if preferred) share top floor wetroom
Check in from 3pm . Check out by 10am but we can sometimes be flexible at less busy times so do ask.
Ground Floor: The main house has three floors. With its Victorian tiled hallway, the ground floor has a light-filled, lime-washed living room with working open fireplace with space to accommodate eight . There is TV and DVD player . The kitchen has sunshine in the morning and evening. Dining table to seat 8. There is a downstairs cloakroom/ toilet.
Upstairs there is a tiny study ( WiFi throughout the house) . On the first floor there are two large double bedded bedrooms each with morning and evening sunshine, lime-washed walls, floorboards and fireplaces. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room. The main bathroom, with bath and shower over the bath , is also on this floor.
On the second floor are bedrooms three and four . Bedroom three has sloping ceilings and original beams. It can either have a king size bed or two narrow singles . Bedroom four also has sloping ceilings and can either have a superking size bed or two 3' singles .When set as singles ,one of these will be under the sloping eaves .On this floor there is a wetroom with shower and toilet.Please note that there are no wardrobes in any of the bedrooms throughout the house but ample hanging on the back of doors and one clothes rail is available if you require one..
Two high chairs and two travel-cots available on request. No stair gates but stairs are wider and more gentle than standard stairs.
Outdoor space: The house sits reverse on its plot so the front of the house is secluded and private while access to the house by car and on foot is to the rear of the property via the glazed pantry. There is a large, secluded garden at the house with outdoor table and 8 chairs and charcoal BBQ. It is ideal for children to play in as it is fully enclosed when the gate is closed. To the back of the house, there is a small garden, with some garden chairs for late evening sun. The house overlooks a small park.
£150 security deposit at time of booking , returned by holiday lettings 10 days after your stay.
Quirks to be aware of : There are no wardrobes in the house but ample hanging space on the back of doors etc, the house is adjacent to ( though screened from ) East Hill which is quite a busy road, the house is a listed period property the rooms are high ceilinged and well proportioned but do not have the large dimensions of some contemporary properties.
Guests have use of outside utility room with washing machine and storage for bikes etc but guests do not have use of garage
With children in mind we offer two travel cots and two highchairs. There are toys available and garden games. There are no stair gates fitted to the stairs but stairs are gentle, not steep.

This is a town centre property not a secluded country house;there is some traffic noise from adjacent East Hill.
Guests enjoy the space and privacy of a detached house with ample garden and convenience of very easy access to the town centre.

The Masters House benefits from a totally private, landscaped garden both to the front and to the back of the property. Outdoor seating in a little sun trap is provided in the back garden with herbs available to use, whilst the front garden is the ideal spot for lounging away the afternoon with a bottle of wine and a good book. There is space for 3 cars to park on the driveway and additional spaces on street next to house . The house overlooks a small park . It is set back from a main road.

“Fabulous house for a family holiday”
We had a marvellous stay at the Old Masters. The garden is beautiful, the bedrooms are fantastic, bathrooms, kitchen and lounge both excellent. Location is superb, within walking distance of Lymington town and great pubs and restaurants. Very near to New Forest and the sea!! Thank you to the owners for making this holiday so special and memorable.

“Perfect home from home”
We have just come back from a long weekend at the Old Masters House in Lymington and what a fabulous house it was. I was feeling confident as we arrived due to the attention to detail in all the welcome information, but the house was even better than expected. It has real charm and felt like a true home from home. The owners have made sure everything you need is provided so there is no immediate dash to the shops, and a welcome basket including wine, coffee and delicious homemade marmalade was much appreciated. The location is perfect, a few minutes walk from shops and marina. We certainly hope to return again soon.
